maybe you could drop the camera lower so elephants would be above horizon and would appear humongous and more scary?
Spectacular 2D Entry: Eric Bonilla
Here is another compostion with a closer point of view. It omits the cannon element which I really like, but puts the viewer right in the mix of things which is kind of cool.
Another concept this one drops horizon line and brings the camera angle down as per suggestion. Comments on the concepts are appreciated.
Thanks
Nice concept. Maybe if you want to fill out the negative space in the background a little, you could include a crest of a hill with more elephant cavalry swarming over it.
I think that’s a great idea, would gave a lot of depth to this
this is interesting concept, I think it’s got potential, good luck
I think this is the concept I will be moving forward with.
Christhatguy, Korline - thanks for the feedback. I think I will try a version with the hill in the painting stage. I put a faint hill in the left bg as a possible location.
Any other feedback is welcome
Yeah, that’s working. I like the elephant getting blasted by the cannon. Kind of morbid, but cool.
Color WIP. Still trying to tighten up some of the elements of the scene. Decided against blasting the elephant, may be a bit to morbid. Instead I have him rearing up at the sight of the cannon pointed towards it. Hope to lay down more paint this weekend
Christhatguy, Korline, xric7 - thanks for the comments.
Worked on the foreground figures some. I am planning on blocking in the elephants and bkgrd more. Any comments welcome.
Hey eric. This is really coming along. The soldiers are starting to look good.
I think you need a more dramatic sky or maybe something to break up the silhouettes of the elephants. Right now its pretty much a smooth curve across the top. Ive always found elephants look scariest head on.
Anyway, good progress. I’d like to see more.
hey man, I’m glad you’ve got rid of this hole in the elephant,
so, I think you defenetly need some dramatic background, then I don’t know how far you’re in coloring, but the dudes look little flat, I’m not sure, but I think that things are a bit to tide up, and makes it to look stiff , don’t know if this helps but maybe run them into background and back so the outlines come out naturally, not like paper cut, use more value, than the outline,
just trying tio figure something out, I love the pic, just needs some care :applause:
cheers
zpapageo and Korline, thanks for the feedback.
zpapageo - I agree, I need to push the sky some more.
Korline - Yeah I have been thinking the same things. I have been focusing time on getting all the guys to a certain level and neglected the backgound and atmosphere. thats why they seem so cookie cutter. I will be shifting gears and focus more on incorporating everyone into the scene. Value, blending, and lighting and so on and so forth. And you’re right, a gapping hole in the elephant just wouldn’t have worked LOL.
Thanks again guys
wow… the coloring looks great!! many action… I like it!!! keep it up mate!
I’ll wait to see more…:bounce:
