Spectacular 2D Entry: Doug Williams

Great start to your image, I love spiritual stuff! I will be back later…holla!

Hey thanks all. I’m already thinking of changing some of it, the river of beasts is kind of poopy the way it lays at the bottom of the pic. Need to at least add some perspective. I have 2 other little sketches I’ll scan later, one a guy hacking away at monsters, the other a guy in a boat crossing a sea of monsters to some light off in the distance (this idea came from a stanza in the Gita that goes something like: Even to the most evil of evil doers, wisdom is a boat that can carry them across a sea of sin).

Anyway thanks again.

WOW this is a spectacular idea! Really beautiful concept I can’t wait to see more! Great work!

#18

…very much like the color direction here. Looking forward to seeing more!

#19

Love the concept, and the colours in this sketch are wonderful, they were what drew me to your thumbnail. Adding some perspective into it would, I imagine, make it even better, so can’t wait to see what happens with your other sketches. Another one to subscribe to on my ever expanding list!

#20

So here’s a couple other roughs. I actually like both of them better than the first. I might do the top one. It’s a guy hacking away undetered at a serpent like form of beasties. Think sentinel snake in Matrix Revolutions.

The other is the boat idea mentioned earlier.

#21

Oooh! Big monsters! Battles! Swords… It’s made me think of the giant squid fight in ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ with Kirk Douglas! This could be fantastic!

#22

Good work dougbot, I like very much the colors and the light of your sketches.

#23

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww !

#24

Cool stuff, Doug. I really like the boat sketch myself, though it might not be as in-your-face spectacular as your other concepts I think it’s a really refreshing take on the topic and has the potential to be something really different.

Anyway, I’m sure you’ll produce something gorgeous as usual whatever direction you choose. All the best, mate!

#25

Hey thanks all. I’m really torn between those 2. I was leaning towards the top one, but darn you Matt, now I don’t know  . Maybe I’ll sort of start both and go from there. Thanks again.

#26

can’t wait to see more… love the colore theme…
All of your posted works are AWESOME! man, that’s I want to say.

#27

Superb sketches! the color and lone quality works well.

As for which one, I agree with you, I like the one with the guy hacking away at the serpent thing too. Good luck, cheers.

#28

Hey!
Welcome back and good luck with the challenge.

But i disagree with you. That first sketch with the buddha is more spectacular

Ok time to post dougbot:)

#29

So this one is what I’m going with for the moment. I am working on the sea one too, but hopefully will put it in the comic I’m slowly trying to make (coming to a comic shop in 2038, just one year after the apes take over).

Doug lies professionallly and he can’t give up the testicles -I meant tentacles- thinging.

Looking good Doug, can’t wait to see more.

subscribed, not to miss this thread.

The current sketch is a good choice though it´s a classic topic scene. The sketch allready gives a dramatic impression loaded with a lot of action. I particularly like the tentacle indication of the the background element. The blur gives it a very convincing depth allready.

Looking forward to watch further development.

I agree with th others, great sketches. A ton of action going on, keep going.

So messing around with the color a bit. Still very early. Brought the character to the front. Am thinking of puttinh in a horizon line, so you can get a feel of hieghth. Enjoy :stuck_out_tongue:
