Okay so here is my first post in the first CG Challenge I have ever participated in.

I haven’t sketched anything yet on this as I am still contempleting what would be truly “spectacular”. Some initial thoughts are:

Spectacular on a grand scale- architectural or political achievement- buildings, war, peace, armies, societies.

Spectacular on a personal scale- achieving some personal goal

Spectacular irony or dillusion- something not seen as spectacular by anyone but one person.

There are of course many other direction this could go, but I know that for my own taste, I prefer the subtle over the obvious. A thrilling action scene would not hold my passion or interest and the final piece would suffer as a result. So I will allow myself a few days to contemplate what I would see as truly spectacular, but if any of you out there have any thoughts, please chime in.

Till my next post…

This is one idea I had of “Spectacular”. Basically the story is that a small planet was forced to build a protective shield in order to block out the harmful radiation caused by the explosion of a nearby star. Now, for some reason that I can sort out later, the shield is opened, giving the people of this tiny planet, it’s first taste of daylight.

Any thoughts as far as concept, composition, etc.???

Another concept:

Even after the worst ecological abuse, life will not be defeated. In the end, it is nature that will always prevail. Life cannot be stopped.

This concept reminds me of something I believe TS Elliot wrote: “This is how the world will end, not with a bang, but with a whimper.”

I believe the same will be true of how life will always begin, on a very small, unassuming scale.

Thoughts?
