Space Rabbit WIP

#1

Hi Guys!
I’m new to the gctalk and beeing inspired by all this great stuff around here, I have found my zeal again (which I had lost due to my job… the lamest on earth). Anyway I want to spend time on getting better at illustrating and 3D so I thought of starting personal projects presenting them for critique. I hope I get enough spare time in-between projects in order to update frequently.

So here it goes.... my first attempt to "wacom" a scetch of mine.... The Space Rabbit..

Love the colour! It provides the contrast needed to make the rabbit “pop” off the page. I like it alot.

#3

thanks for your kind words nuttz.

#4

Looking at the last update it remided me of Carl Barks style of some Duck family characters… I looked it up… what do you think?

And I just found out how to link an image and not attach it… attaching can be a turn off some times… so I will be updating the previous posts…

#7

It doesn’t work with flickr… does anyone know a way to host pictures on the web which gives you the possibility to “Insert an image” in the post?
thanks

#8

Got it… found a solution

#9

Update 2… well any suggestions? Is there something I could change? Help me out guys…

#10

Well I feel kinda silly posting these updates but having no input… but hey… what the heck.

Ok I think I am finished with this… but if there is something you think needs correction please do tell!!

#11

Be patient and keep on posting updates, comments will come eventually.

I really like this, the only suggestion is that the way his arm lays over the helmet seems unnatural, and it doesn’t seem like the helmet would be able to sit there because there’s not enough support

#12

Your right… I made this quick correction to get back to it tommorow at work…just to not forget…
thanx again

#13

Not that the styles are really similar, but it made me think of Bucky O’Hare at first. I agree with changing the arm/helmet position, wish I had seen it sooner! It’s a nice little portrait shot, though. The rabbit seems a bit melancholy and lost in thought.

I would do something with bunny’s feet. The left foot is a bit stiff resting on that chair pole and the light on both feet is exactly even - it would be good to make front foot come more out by keeping it lighter than back foot, just to add more movement to the pose. Or make the back foot bit blurred - because the light seems to come from both sides on your picture - so can’t really but the back foot in total shade - i would tone it down anyway.

Thanks for the input guys… I thought about the helmet more… I tried to visualize the structure rather than the from… I think it looks better now… what do you think?
darkened the back foot too… thanks again.

It’s turning out good I think… but I kinda don’t like the left sleeve… SHAGGGSs too much… any suggestions?

#16

I think you’re right aqbout the left arm. Its seems very thin jsut above the elbov. Maybe take out the front fold a bit and reduce the highlight a tad?

Great piece otherwise

#17

Ok I think the left arm is hanging way to low… I made this quick correction… do you think it’s better?
I believe it gives him a more lively attitude… what do you guys think?

#18

I think the new adjustment to his arm will work really well, it’s looking good!

#19

hehe, its silly, i like it, nice work man!

if i only had 2d skills like that.

#20

hey i am liking this a lot i think the arm length looks a lot better! you work quick! like the style, keep going, watch your highlights as they are coming from the front and rear!
