Some of what was said about CORE

#1

This was just what I could remember from the presentation

Total rewrite of Lightwave, C++ based, object oriented framework, completely open for developers, all modules/plugins can speak together without limitations, unlimited instancing meaning instances take no extra memory, history stack, modifier stack, customizable interface, python scripting language with built-in editor and command line (instant feedback), modeler and layout in one interface or two if you like. Everything is new from the ground up.

Will be available in weeks. HardCORE members (that sign up before March 31st) will get it, special resources, tutorials, HardCORE t-shirt, extras for LW 9.x, VIP forums and more. Costs 399 for current LW 9.x owners, 595 for competitive upgrade (runs until the 31st of March). In the fall full price will be raised to 1499 and upgrade to 699. http://www.newtek.com/core is the place to sign up, at least that’s what we were told.

Correct me if I’m wrong here guys, it was short and I might have missed some bits and pieces.

I think you got it right, because that’s what’s listed on the Core page  (well, mostly)

#3

Yeah  This post was delayed a LOT since it was my first post, so the CORE page was not even remotely working or updated at that time. Had to be approved first… :frowning: So deleting this would be nice since it’s obsolete now…

#4

Well…

Something that was mentioned, but not shown, was a completely new dynamics engine, that, apparently, doesn’t have any limitations as far as interaction goes (cloth can interact with soft/hard body etc, etc).

#6

Did they show anything? Or was it just someone talking about it?

#7

Not much was shown - but I think a lot of that had to do with the technical problems with the live feed. I think all the LW fanatics (myself included) on the forums crashed the feed to UStream. While UStream could handle the massive user load, NewTek forums could not.

#8

from i what i saw , which granted wasnt much , it does seem to be everything that
we asked for and more…

i will reserve full judgement until i see more demo views or more presentations
but i am very excited about the future…

Going to watch these again when I get home, the stream I was getting last night was barely watchable.

This is the thread to discuss Core developments. Please don’t start new threads for every shred of Core information. Thanks.
