some newbie modelling questions

Hi,

A couple of questions in my journey to try to learn how to model in wings. I’ve seen various maya tutorials where they mention to add creases. What would be the wings equivalent tool if there is one?

Regarding the theory of edge loops - my understanding is that triangles are to be avoided but when I smooth a bevelled vertex area all the triangles disappear and are replaced by four-sided polys. Does the smoothing algorithm always replace tris with quads and if so why avoid the tris?

I’m not sure about the crease value but the triangles are indeed converted as quad faces after subdivision,But,most of the time those will create 6 edged vertice also called poles which may cause a pinch when rendering and artifacts may appear(small unsmooth shaded faces)

That said,I’ve seen some very high quality work done using triangle in key areas such as flat zone and unseen/unanimated areas or even creases.
