Some help on ears?

#1

I’m trying to tackle creating ears in Wings. There use to be a tutorial on it, but now I can’t find it. I found one one the Dev fourm but it was a dead page. Anybody know where a good one is - that can be effortlessly done in wings?

The method I’ve been playing around with is starting from very low-poly, selecting a vert > Bevel > Delete all edges within the bevel > Extrude the ear Face > Extrude Region on the top of the ear > Inset > extrude inward the inner face…then i’m stuck.

The above gives a pretty good ear rim.

Hi,

Can’t really say how good they are cause I’m new at this but a chapter from Peter Ratner’s book on modelling a figure is online and has some diagrams/ guides for an ear in the first tutorial:

www.cal.jmu.edu/ratner/tutorials/1

Also saw a short tutorial at:

www.secondreality.ch/tutorials/modelling/ear.html

The latter seems to be a combination of edge modelling and other since he starts with an extruded spline, but as I said I’m new at this. Hope they’re some help.

DL the video, so I check that out.

On the other two posted tutorials, the first one I get a dead page, and the second one I can get to step 4/5 easy enough, but after that, it takes a lot of tweaking. I’ll keep playing.
