Some advices and opinions on new hardware

#1

Hello, this is the first time i’m posting in this section of cgtalk. So ‘hi’ to all.
I am thinking of updating my desktop and i thought someone more professionally oriented than me could give some advice.
So my current desktop tower machine is:
P5Q Deluxe Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU
4GB memory ram DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce GTX260,
Total available Graphics Card Memory: 2687 Mb
Dedicated video Memory: 896 Mb GDDR3
Windows 7 64Bit, with 500GB hard disk

At first i thought that i could replace my cpu with an new i7 but my motherboard’s sockets do not accept current cpu hardware.
So i went to a local retailer and they offered the following upgrades:
Motherboard MB Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H (1155/Z77/DDR3)
CPU Intel Core i7-3770K (1155, 3.5 GHz, 8MB)
16GB memory ram DDR3
and in case i change my graphic card: Palit GTX 650Ti OC 1GB or GTX660 2GB DDR5

So what do you guys think about the upgrade? Should i change my current graphics card for the aforementioned new cards ?
The purpose for the upgrade is that i need a faster machine for 3ds Max renderings, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop workflow, machine power for computational purposes (eg scripting),
and to be able to work simultaneously with lets say Autocad, 3DsMax, Illustrator (not all the time but frequently).

Thank you

Everything youve listed looks pretty good. For the gfx card, your current one is ok, its not at a point where you have to upgrade, but the 660 would give a noticeable improvement.

Thank you Matthew for the reply. I will probably keep my card and wait for a second upgrade some time in the near future (after september maybe).
