Solver Scale Rate

#1

Im pretty new to Syflex so excuse me if this is a pretty dumb question. I managed to make a simple cloth simulation of a flag blowing in the wind, but like everything I have done so far, the simulation is 3 times slower than it needs to be and I have to increase the timing during compositing. I try to increase the forces and dampening but there seems to be a very fine line before my simulation explodes, which I cannot achieve. In Maya cloth there is a solver scale that increases the timing, I was wondering if there is something similar in Syflex?

From Maya help

Info of “cpColver node”
Time Scale

[ul]Determines the relative time Cloth is running with respect to the Dependency Graph time. For example, if you want the cloth to run through the simulation twice as fast, the Time Scale value should be set to 2. The longer the Cloth’s simulation time is, the more force has an effect on the Cloth. For example, if the force is gravity, the Cloth will appear to be heavier as the Time Scale increases. The default value is 1.

Are you trying to tell me that Syflex uses the same cloth solver as Maya Cloth?

there is no time scale for syflex.

you can bake the motion, then scale the amination or play around some more and bet better setting for the movement you want…

sounds like you just need some more mass to stop it being so floaty… you will probably need to increase springs to compensate for that change… and so on…
hard to say without seeing the geo and the scene scale and the gravity and the properties…

Okay, Ive finally managed to do a desent cloth sim with good timing. I increased my gravity and wind settings and reduced the density of my cloth, this has sped up the motion now so it doesnt look like everything is in slow mo. Thanks for your help
