So this is a little like Deviantart...?

Hi–I’ve just forced myself to become acquainted with the world of CG…

As an aspiring artist–I never believed Picasso, Monet, Dali, (you know the rest) was the way to go… (poverty and all) so here I am forcing myself to love the world of technology.

And so I figured the first step was to go online, find myself a nice comfy CG site… and here I am. CGSociety. USD30 and all. For what? I couldn’t tell you.
And I was hoping maybe someone could help me out a little… cus I must admit. I have never been this confused.

How do I use this site to its max?
Whatsup with the portfolio thing?
Why is uploading such a hassle?
What on earth is there to look at if they don’t update the homepage?
Why don’t they update the freaking homepage more often!?

But most importantly–How do I use this site?

Any response will be greatly appreciate guys.

I sincerely hope this excellent site never turns into anything close to the garbage dump, called Deviantart :scream:   !

Welcome to the CG Society, LoveSix - and feel free to play and experiment with various stuff available on the site. It might seem very confusing at first - but never give up - and before you know, you’ll be reading excellent interviews and tutorials, participating in CG competitions, comment other people’s work and have your works commented by others, have your own portfolio (blog etc included) that anyone can visit at http://lovesix.cgsociety.org and much more.

I doubt anyone will find the time to write detailed advices and instructions to every new member - so take the initiative and explore. We all gave it through - that’s how we know. I guess the best place to start would be the FAQ section: http://wiki.cgsociety.org/index.php/Help:Forums/FAQ

If this site ever became deviant art people would leave it in droves.

Now as how to use the site, it falls to your shoulders. What is it you want to know, and what can you contribute? That is pretty much all you need to start here. People are very forthcoming with help (as long as you’ve read the FAQ and done a search!), and uploading (should) be a breeze! There is validation for images, which may be why you could not upload the first time around.

What field of cg are you interested in?
