So, C4D… where next?

Job titles are not just job titles mean also $$$$. These are all members of the Maxon board so they are paid accordingly.
Are they excessive?
It is difficult to say, will depend of their output.
What is certain is that some of those titles could have been in lower level than the board and some seem redundant.

All companies look for profit - profit is not only $$$$ - that is why they exist. There are different ways of doing that and every one is different and depends much of who runs it.

[/quote] From the list here https://www.maxon.net/en/news/maxon-news/article/maxon-and-red-giant-merger-completed/ only Chad is on the board.

Apologies, i meant the executive board - maybe not called that - instead of advisory board.

Looking strategical there isn’t at present a direct threat to C4D regarding its position in Mograph world - though i think the system they have got it is showing the signs of bloat and non discoverability and ripe for someone to bring a disruption.
But everything else is under attack.

Red Giant seems to be a double down on Mograph and an effort to maintain that market, i wonder if the looked to increased capabilities of composite software to do mograph jobs and want to get an easier system with Red Giant technology.

#85

A bit of off-topic but… REDshift, RED giant… which one RED next?..

Redtube would be a weird merge, but at the same time would increase our current userbase.

I was given a huge allotment of stock options as a bonus from one of the US management team, this resulted in me making a life changing amount of money within the year when the company floated on the nasdaq. But around me I saw friends and colleagues forced onto personal contracts and having to undergo interviews to keep their own jobs and eventually losing their jobs.

To cut a long story short I saw some very shady business practices, I saw any tiny cost removed from the business and decent colleagues let go on appalling severance packages. I decided this was not a company I wanted to work for so I resigned, my partner and I backpacked round the world for a year, I completed a fine arts degree and opened my business which combines my love of science and art, I could not be happier.

Whenever I travel to London the train goes past the offices of my former employer and it’s now a hole in the ground. All my former colleagues have been let go. It turned out the US company asset striped the business, took everything of value and ditched the work force and relocated the work to the US.

It’s all about the Benjamins…

Back on topic, I see Maxon is busy porting the viewport for R22 to Metal for macOS. Which is good news for Mac users. (Well, people with more recent Mac models.)

And the Mac hate begins in 3… 2… 1…

#89

I have been rendering a feature length marvel fan film
on my old C4D mac for over five years !
Long may it linger!!

Running two PC,s (windows 7& 10.) For character animation work.

No hatred from me Mate
Just business :grinning::sunglasses:

#90

Wow, that’s commitment. Anywhere near being finished?

#91

Final battle rendering over the next 30 or so days… All post on completed shots. are done and sitting in a delivery edit project in Davinci Resolve.

Anyone expecting Metal to make any performance improvements will be sadly disappointed. If Metal makes a performance improvement it’s only because the Mac OpenGL driver is shockingly bad. Metal isn’t going to help the crawling through treacle C4D viewport performance.

Is this the first clue that Apple is about to remove OpenGL from the next MacOS I wonder? There’s no reason why an application couldn’t support Metal and OpenGL for example Blender will phase in Vulkan and use it an OpenGL for different tasks until everything runs on Vulkan. But if an OS no longer has OpenGL there’s no point including it as older Mac OSes support Metal anyway.

PC users who’ll be in the majority should be asking why hasn’t Maxon announced imminent support for Vulkan? Is this another areas Blender is going to beat them to it? I’m looking forward to Eevee with ray tracing in the next year or so.

A brand new Mac Pro is finally here, and as we announced with Apple at WWDC we’re working hard to take advantage of the incredible power it offers.

Best funny I heard all week!

Cinebench scores of the NMP compared to AMD’s line of CPUs tell a very different story. “Incredible” indeed.

Anyway, seems to me that Maxon found their niche market: MacOS.

I can’t get over someone actually spending in excess of $5000 on a VEGA GPU which is low mid end by todays standards.

How pi$$ed of will buyers be when they see the specs of the rumoured big Navi and 3000 series from nVidia in a couple of months?

not nearly as pissed of as you seem to be about everything.
q: Since when did this forum become your own personal anger venting instrument?
your being toxic. Please do me a favour and get your shit together. we all have our opinions on Maxons direction and performance, but jesus christ, your constant harping/ bitching is not solving any problems . I am quite confident Maxon will sort their shit out, without you nagging on this forum, all day, every day, as if you have nothing else to do.
Chear up a bit, be positive, love what you do, and crack on with your passion…whatever it may be.

I think he just needs a good hug :hearts:

#97

Hugs aren’t scheduled until at least R24, and will only be available to subscribers

#98

In the meantime Blender will get foot-massages in the next beta. Sure, You will have to press the keyboard shortcut with your toes to access it, but C’mon Maxon, step up your game!

#99

Pffft, Houdini already has BOTH hugs AND foot-massages! It’s a 214 nodes setup with 5528 parameters and you need at least a doctorate in non-Euclidean manifolds to understand it but your toes will love you for it.

Been in LightWave since version 5.6. It’s just that nobody noticed.

After the latest update… open obj … it quits.
