hey all!

here’s my newest model. he’s a snail-like alien, who uses his bomb-sling to cut down his opponents.
i’ve started doing a z-sphere sketch in zb2, then remodeled and added accesories in silo2 and now making the “real” sculpt in zb3.
still alot to do on him. like his hands and feet needs a second take.
haven’t decided on wether or not i’ll texture him.

That’s really cool. It reminds me of earthworm jim. Ah, the good old days… I think it would be cool if he had big sucking fingers and toes like a tree frog. That’s just me though. Once again, great model!

Only critique I can see is that he seems to be lacking a little defintion on the outside of his forearms and on his palms.

The sideview seems to show that he doesn’t have very much to support his weight on also, maybe a little more of a hoof shape/elephant shape on his feet might be able to ground him a little better.

Other than that great model and awesome character design.

Did you do his armor in Zbrush also?

Great character Ras, very solid, nice poly layout and good sculpting! I would like to see it textured too ( as I`m sure you would :scream: ) Also a nice game version would be sweet ( if you were into those such things of course :wink: )

Emthree: thanks man. i’ll see what i can do about the texturing.

RobotClayton: hehehe…earthworm jim was/is cool. thanks for the suggestion about the fingers, though i kinda like them as they is.

CaptainRon: thanks alot for the crit’s. i corrected the feet like you suggested and gave the hands a bit more fat and wrinkles.
i did the base of the armor in silo, as with the rest of him. then added details in zb.

kengsing: thanks. the eye’s are snail-ish. -and not all snails have a shell:)

BigErn: thanks alot buddy. glad you like it. i won’t do a game version of this one, but perhaps one of the next in line.

here’s a few picts of his current state. i’ve started to think a bit about what kinda color he should have, and have made a few suggestions. please let me know what you think.

that is masterful man, not really a word but it describes it. The geometry is pristine, character is original, and the armor is very well done. That is top quality work from what I can tell.

Wow, I gotta say I like the concept and the model is really well executed. He can look so menacing yet we all know snails are weak on salts. BTW are you adding slime to it? Great job, keep it up.

tastyUdon: heheh… -thanks. yeah! salt is his kryptonite. i won’t add slime, because he’s not really a snail. he only resembles a snail in some areas.

i’m pretty hung up at work atm. so next update might have to wait a little.

wow that awsome looks like a character from larry nivens draco tavern, if you ever read it this snale guy looks something like one character but not really the same.

twisted101: thanks alot for the kind words. i’ll try and find that book (-haven’t read it).

-finally i got a little update on this one, which i thought i’d show before i take a week in greece with my girlfriend:).

i’ve started texturing the different parts (but nothing i wanna show on the armor, atm.).
the body is the most finished one, though i think it’ll need a extra detail pass or atleast some more contrasted ones.
c&c is very much welcome.

here’s a few new picts. i worked a bit more on the different maps and got to do some texturing on some of the armor-parts.

his legs are odd to me. Hes too top heavy. in actuallity his legs would buckel underneath him and colapse. I would either bulking up the legs or make more clear that the knees are backwards, right now they bulg at the sides. Other than that you have a great model.

Superb so far, and I shall follow this to learn a bit.

I do agree though that his legs look a little weak viewed from the front.
I think it is the way they bow outwards and then down, so the feet are not catucally under the body but to the sides. Straightening the front view of them might help, or find your own way, but I would want to strengthen the way they look.

He’s still a great model even with that oddity.

hey you two!

thanks alot for the crits.

the legs have been a issue right from the start. just thought it looked good on him, so i decided to keep it.
i’ll see if i can come up with some “fix” for that. thougt about doing some buff calf-armor or so.
