smoothbind multiple influence ojects at once


anyone an idea :lightbulb how it works to smooth bind a set of up to 155 locators as influence objects to a (bone) skinned head geometry, where the locators, depending on their distance to each other, chop up the parts i left blank (temporaily skinned to a additional bone without setting this one to "hold"weights) between them??
(i saw something like this in xsi, but i dont find the appropriate button in maya) aside from that offers maya only a maximum of 30 influences....!? ive done this task manuallly but with all up around 200 “weightable” objects, its a mess… :banghead:
