smooth mesh from mudbox

I want to export the mesh from mudbox without smoothed shaded mesh to maya

I work on mud with a hard surface texturing model from maya

when I export to an FBX file and when imported to maya again there is a smotthed shaded mesh

can anyone know how to do it?

mud is working with smooth meshes only… think there is no way to preserve hard edges…

Really? hmmm jajajaja

I will need then to export all the textures back to maya manually and plug the shading network
to preserve in maya the same mesh

you could try in maya… mesh --> transfer attributes
set vertex normal to “on” and sample space to “local”…

think this should bring your hard edges back…

I think I found the way besides of the method you suggested

this is the mesh with vertex normal regular in MAYA normals/vertex normal edit tool

here is when the vertex normal are changed on direction for a smoothed shaded in this case mud did this


so to have back the vertex normals based again and get the original hard shaded
I did MAYA/normals/set to face and in the option box “match face normal”
