Does anyone know the best way to slice your templates designs for web deployment? I have a couple template designs i need to slice by the end of next week and i need a quick solution. Any advice is greatly appriciated.
Slicing Design Templates
you sure they aren’t already sliced? good temps usually are. make sure the slice view is turned on
With the slice tool. Hiding under the crop tool.
Export with Save for Web. There’s lots of options there. Also look to the Invisible Adobe Menu Button in the upper right for more output options. It looks like it’s supposed to save HTML too, but I couldn’t figure out where it put the file or how it named it. Only guesses are: I’m clueless idiot; since the PSD hadn’t been saved yet, PS didn’t know the root name for the HTML file so didn’t save it; it’s in some dark corner somewhere. It did create an Images folder to put the images in and some little GIFs. Spacers maybe. THe Preview button showed a preview of the page and the source to create it. First guess, it’s reasonably slick. Slice markings on the main image include a “button” that opens a dialog for url and alt text etc to attach to an slice. The online docs say more.
Thanks guys i will be looking into these solutions today. I hear Fireworks is real easy to use? Im looking for the easiest way to slice up templates for web. I’ve always found it difficult in photoshop for some reason.
No offense, but if you’re still slicing up templates you’re a ways behind in web design/development. Might want to start looking into CSS based design to get a bit more up to speed with current techniques.
(I realize that slicing may be a requirement for templates, just an observation.)
