Skew in Wings?

#1

Am I just missing it, or is there no way to skew an entire object in wings?

#2

I miss it too.

A great addon would be to have to capability to PRS edit individual faces on a saved bouding box or such, then ‘manual Skewing’ wouldn’t be much of a problem instead of implementing some kind of lattice deformation system…

Is this a possibility?

#4

A lattice deformer would solve much problems, however it seems to me that there’s something in the code that prevents it. For example there’s polyproxy wich is not realtime and there’s the issue with the smoothed view, when you edit an object the viewport changes back to flat shaded.

I’d like to know why are these issues there yet, because it seems that it wouldn’t be much complicated to make these better and would add so much to Wings!

If somebody knows the answer, please inform! Thax in advance!

-there’s the issue with the smoothed view, when you edit an object the viewport changes back to flat shaded

That’s the work mode,it is assumed that the user will work in this view mode, you get a cleaner surface view.

The proxy sub-d mode not being realtime is not an issue,it’ just not implemented, yet.

I guess there are restrictions within the code’s structure like you suggested but knowing a few good programmers,I know for a fact nothing’s impossible for them

That and the fact that you can download the source and get into programming to compile your own version.

I find it wery disturbing, when I want to tweak in smooth shaded mode (without the wires 'y know). Maybe because I mainly model organic stuff, not mechanics and they’re better viewed in smooth. Maybe this pic demonstrates a little. I’d very happy if in the preferences there would be a toggle for this, so everybody could be happy using what fits for him/her.

I haven’t tried Sub-D in Blender but maybe making the base mesh in wings and exporting into blender for tweaking could be an option if you’re really annoyed by it,I’m pretty sure it is realtime in blender.

#8

Thanx, but I’d like to use it inside wings, cause I love Wings!

#9

hehe don’t get me wrong,I love wings too,I don’t model in anything else.

I couldn’t buy Mirai so I downloaded Wings
