I have gone to a school of graphic and industrial design in Malmö, Sweden. But trust me on this, what I learnt from the years spent at that school was taught by friends and other students not teachers, and unfortunately I mostly learnt typograhpic stuff there. No real life or digital art, something I totally regret today.

I’m self taught, I picked up anatomy in january as I felt that many characters I’d been speed painting totally lacked all sense of proportion.

And that’s my story.

I’ve been noticing that my scanner crops my image way too much, bits are getting chopped of… I wonder if I can change that setting somehow.

A question of curiousity; Am I violating any copyrights by posting so many studies from the same artist?

Thanks for the background information! :slight_smile: Wow, you really are setting a great example here - you’re doing exactly what I think most should be doing in terms of anatomy studies - fantastic inspiration. :slight_smile:

Remember a day away from drawing, you’ll notice the difference, two days away from drawing -everyone notices the difference hahahahah.

I totatlly agree that a thread like this shows people have the choice to make things happen - great improvements. Your linework is getting better as your confidence grows!

Remember to think in 3d forms. I’m sure the books tell you that but keep it in the forefront of mind as you lightly rough in. Also, think about line weight, such as darker lines for emphasize and shadows.

Razz: Yea yea, I’ll join next QFDW. :wink: I know what you mean, writing’s a killer for inspiration (atleast for me) but it is probably just as important as the drawings.

MattVogt: hehe, that’s so true. Thanks for the support. I’ve picked up a book by Glen Vilppu to learn more get more of 3d forms and gesture in by drawings. I’m currently blind to line weight but I hope it will develop as I go.

Cynical_saint: Hey, thanks, I’m drawing abit of this and that actually, the sketches in the first pages are Loomis studies, (you can download all his books from a thread here at CG for free!), I’ve also done some Da Vinci studies from images I found on the various sites but mostly I’ve done studies from the book “Bridgman’s complete guide to drawing from life”.

Here are some more studies, the news are that I’ve begun taking Life drawing classes, which is fun but I feel that the teacher is somewhat inadequate.

Hey Intervain, thanks :slight_smile: I always carry a sketchbook with me nowadays, it’s very relaxing just to doodle whenever I feel stressed or whatever.

And oh, almost forgot, I’ll share these textures with you aswell as I am going to post them on conceptart.org anyway. I did these a week or two ago and they work pretty nice with digital painting. I’m not sure how useful they are when doing characters (used the watercolor one on the samurai) but you can probably pull some intresting brushes and overlays from them.

Wow you’ve been busy!

Lot’s of hard work… will surely pay off!
Be careful not to draw the heads too small… I think you may tend to do this here and there but it’s not that bad… just something you should keep in the back of your mind while drawing .

Dude, those charcoals are pretty sick. I just bought some too. I hope to achieve that level…one day. I like the arms…a lot. Great job.

Hey Nr43 thanks, yeah the heads are a tad small (i like em long) I just havent figured any good way to determine the size of the body when sketching.

ha-dou-ken: thanks :slight_smile: actually they are not charcoals, I think it’s called graphite stick or something.

I’m not sure this one fits here, but what the heck, it have anatomy, right? The fore arms are intentionally very long to resemble a creature rather than a crouching human-ish figure.

Awesome stuff! Detail in the bottom right is a little hard to see, I assume thats because of the scan. Is that thigh muscle?
