Sketchbook Thread of Warpy

#1

hey folks, i have been sketching for a while now, in the last few weeks i have progressed a bit
mainly due to the great tutorials by rebecca and slux, i would like to say that i mainly focused on getting better at shading.

i apologize for the bad quality of the pictures, i am using a digital camera to capture the sketches and its night time.

Cheers.

warpyy,

Great to see your work thread! I am glad you’ve decided to set this up ~ would you mind if I renamed your thread to “Anatomy thread of warpyy”? This helps me to keep things consistent, and organized.

I really like your pieces here, and can see a lot of progress from you! The first drawing in particular is quite nice ~ was this done from photo reference?

I’d definitely like to see you delve into doing some anatomy studies soon. I think they would really help you out. Looking forward to seeing some more work from you!

Cheers,

hi rebecca,

i dont mind you renaming the thread, but its not just an anatomy thread.
all my drawings are done while i am sitting in coffee shops in at night time,
i usually pick a someone that sits around me or a picture that is hanging off a wall.
and draw it. the waiter figure is realy a painting that was in a local coffee shop near here.

thanks for posting, guess you are the only one that liked this

Hi
I’am glad to see you have your own thread  hehe and also that my little tut have helped you.
If you want to improve your figure drawing than I would recomment Loomis book - Figure Drawing its really great … it will teach you right proportions and how to draw correct human figure but don’t forget just reading itsn’t enough and thats true for all these art books … you have to practise everything what you read … for example with this Loomis book I have drawn some of his demo pictures more that 50 times … until I could draw it perfectly without reference … but I’am still not finished with it  … and btw you can find all his books here http://www.saveloomis.org
Anyway just keep practising and don’t worry if folks don’t post many replies just keep going.
good luck

Heya warpyy,

No prob then ~ the sketchbook title shall remain. How about, though, “Sketchbook of warpyy”? That way, if others want to create the same, I can keep things organized. Pleeeze?

Looking forward to seeing more work!

Cheers,

#18

started with some painting

#19

WOW, nice stuff!!

the first two was done last night, the vamp one is under the inspiration i got from neb (link at the bottom !!)
the eyes and nose are of a friend of mine, as you can see (or not because of the crappy scanner, even the digicam is better, anyways…) as you can see it looks real
the last before 3rd was done quickly in school, and then rendered over a cafe the later on the same day.
the last one… was a bad attempt at drawing someone who was moving constantly infront of me… sucks
