Just marking my space… Will post images soon!

In the meantime…

#2

I cant wait for you to post something.

#3

Wait no longer! Here are some images from tonights session and some earlier works:

First lifedrawing session ever, first image (god I hate it already =]):

Second session:

Third session:

From tonight (4th session):

I know the proportions on the second image is a little… off… but I like the shading I managed to squeeze in

Whew, that’s all for now. Next lifedrawing session will be on saturday. I also have 3-4 self portraits, ranging from 10 to 20 minutes to post up. Without a mirror placed in a good spot it’s kind of hard to get it right but they are ok so they will be up later.

Cheers

Peter

#4

And completely unrelated:

Just some character designs I did in class

#5

You are improving daily Peter. I am glad the huge fees are paying for itself

#6

Hehe, this course wasn’t a huge fee  I won’t say that $895CAD is cheap, but it isn’t expensive considering we get all the drawing materials for free. I’m glad I’m improving enough so that it’s visible  Thank you

#7

what materials? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Pen, pencil, eraser? what what?
heh.
Oh well no matter…
I love the last gesture drawing. The one at the very bottom right ‘15-30 secs’

#8

Thank you

We got a bunch of pens, those all-coal pen type things, mechanical pencil, ruler, sharpener, binder, sketchbook (somewhere a4 and a3 size), 3 lifedrawing pads (bigger than a3, maybe a2?) and conte and stuff. So we get everything we need for free

#9

Peter,

I agree with Queenie, it will be quite interesting to spy on your progress and act as proper cheerleaders along the way! You know, the typical cheerleaders, who shout things like, “Bigger! Thigh! Muscle! Thingie!” and such. :scream:

I’m glad you’ve started your own thread, and oh yes, we will be watching…

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

No lifedrawing classes yet  We had a lot of perspective today though, drew a lot of stuff and learned how to break down a tree and clouds and thingies and make them work with a perspective. Maybe next week I’ll have more lifedrawing classes… And hopefully I’ll get out and about and start sketching people. Although that would probably be limited to quick gesture sketches rather than elaborate 15-30 minute renderings… Ah well. I’ll hopefully post something new soon!

#11

Finally had a lifedrawing session! Four new images:

A lot of the shadows are lost because of craptacular camera  And I really hate the head in the last image… Was thinking of censoring it (blurry blob or a big black box) but thought it would be better to be honest about the crap

Got some self portraits done in pencil I can post up if they are suitable for this thread? What say the powers that be?

#12

Peter,

ROFL! Post whatever drawings you wish. How’s your class coming? I think you are getting a bit more comfortable drawing! Good to see your progress.

Cheers!

~Rebeccak (sorry, I can’t not sign my name that way on the forum ~ it’s wierd!) :scream:

#13

YEAH! Urgaffel anatomy ROOOOCKS! :buttrock:

Great quick studies. The more you do of these, the easier it will get to see those proportions nicely. I think your main issue right now is your legs. Do a few more proportion studies on the leg (in relation to length of thigh vs. length of calf).

LOVE the perspective study in the lower right.

#14

Hehe, faces and legs and everything in between  It’s not really a perspective study but I felt like exaggerating the foreshortening so I guess it’s a hybrid hehe

Tonight: Composition class.

Rebecca, what about them self portraits and hand studies, post them up here?

#15

Rebecca, what about them self portraits and hand studies, post them up here?

You know it!

Off to class now. Whee… :frowning:

Cheers,

#16

I still haven’t digitized the self portraits and hand studies, sorry! As a compensation I present the latest drawings from my (teacherless) lifedrawing class tonight!

Off we go…

He ^ is holding a pole that I just forgot to put in  (the shadows are almost invisible, they are there though  )

More to be found here: http://www.urgaffel.com/lifedrawing/index_2.htm

Cheers!

#17

Wow, tremendous progress you’re making Urg! Seriously! How are you scanning in the drawings?

#18

Hah, scanning… Funny guy… Seriously though, I’m just taking pictures of them with my cellphone and then trying to get something that doesn’t look like shit from Photoshop. No scanner for me

Glad to hear I’m making progress in the eyes of others too, thank you for the encouragment! I do feel that I’ve come some way along the path to be able to draw people in 30 seconds hehe. At least it looks a lot better compared to the first images

#19

Nice progress, Peter! You’re doing quite well, I see. Great stuff so far.

Cheers,

Thanks Rebecca  I’ve only got 7 lessons left and not all of them will be lifedrawing… After that I’ll have to join in on the OFD sessions
