I’m calling it done. I’ve got to move on.
Sketchbook Thread of Splinter
Thank you! I think this one in particular took somewhere around 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I actually look all over the the net for interesting photos or I follow other people on sites like Pinterest who are likely to post something I’ll find interesting. I’ll even jump onto bing and search an actor/actress I like and hope they have a good photo I can reference from.
Coming up with some new ideas for a character I’m creating. The title for my new project is called “Stand Back.”
Just decided on what the character is going to look like. Next I’m going to try and develop character further.
Just finished practicing a little bit with the facial features. I used 2h and 3b pencils and each sketch took around 15 minutes.
I’ve decided on working on some ideas for a tattoo. I think I have a concept I really like. I just have to make it look really good. Right now I’m working on the pose and details.
I have a long way to go I think. I feel like I should spend a lot of time on the hands, legs and feet still. After those are where I want them to be I’m going to move on the the face and cloth details and finish up with tightening up the line work.
I haven’t been drawing anything for a while now. I’ve recently been working on animation stuff in Maya. I actually miss posting on my sketchbook. So I think I’ll be back on here soon.
I’ve got a few new ideas that I can’t wait to share.
stay tuned… Lol
Until then here is a quick sketch.
I’ve been working on this troll for a while now.
Take a look. I’m hoping to have it done here real soon.
Slowly moving along on the retopo process for this guy. I can’t wait to see him finished.
This morning I thought it would be fun to practice a couple of speed sketches. I don’t really know how long these took. I just know that I tried not to put a ton of effort into too much detail. I tried to get the general look as quick is I could.
The reason for these is so that I could practice getting the proper shapes in my drawings. Such as the shape of a person’s hair, proportions, dynamic posing, etc… I’m hoping to do these enough so that I can draw without having to have constant reference (draw from my head).

Still trying to keep my sketchbook thread alive. In the famous words of Kate Winslet - The Titanic, “I’ll never let go.”
Take look at a study I just recently finished using this reference (Here).
I’ve been pretty busy with work and general life stuff, Lol. However, I have been trying to work on some art projects here and there. Here’s one of the portraits I’ve been working on.
I have a couple others to show, but I’m actually going to wait a little while longer to bring them onto my sketchbook thread. I’ll try and get closer to completion before I upload them.
