Hey…a good ice shader will be really great fun. The different shaders you’ve used in the past have been great…in combination with the vibrant colors…so different than anything I’ve ever seen.
Always enjoyable to see what you’re up to, Glenn.

Z BRUSH MELTING ICE SCULPTURE #2…Will try a different shader on each one I do, just to see what effect it creats, until I find the perfect one…
ohh great idea! I like Ice Sculpture number two more since it has those icy pikes, they’re beautiful.
I think if you made the figure a little bit more transparent it will look cooler, I mean like the ice cubes, they’re white in the center and then they go transparent bit by bit (sorry don’t know how to say it clearly in english
)

HEY…Talaria …THANKS FOR STOPPING BY…I felt the same way about that last one that I posted…liked the hanging ice, but wasn’t happy with the effect that I had in the figure.
This ice is proving to be tricky…but having a lot of fun trying to get it to look right …
I love an adventure in unexplored places,…you never know what you will come across…
THANKS again Talaria…I always value opinions, and try to make the most of them, if I am able to…as I HAVE STATED MANY TIMES IN MY THREAD…

Starting to get a little closer to feeling like ice that is starting to melt a little.
Searching for ice, has forced me to explore the lighting effects in Z BRUSH a lot more than I
I had ,…which is a good thing…Fantastic program…
wow Glenn, that last ice sculpture is great. How long does that take if you don’t me asking? Did you ever take traditional sculpting classes? Anyway, AWESOME! Just made my day!:applause:
EDIT:Peace or Perish…wow. What a great burden you must carry with you. I’m sorry, but I also greatly respect your sentiments of pro-peace in this day and age. thanks for sharing your story Glenn as it help put in perspective the daily squabbles(cough you/oddity, cough) and allows us to realize just how petty differences in superficial opinions really are. Thanks man…

Isaias…THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR OPINION ON MY THREAD…![]()
REALLY MADE MY DAY …BETTER…
About time on these…about fifty plus years…a life time of learning…
My daily routine is usually from sun up, to high noon, a little longer sometimes…
About the sculpting…been sculpting since I was a little kid…PLAY DOUGH…
I took a sculpting class about seven or eight years ago , where I live now in Boston…8 week course
great teacher…used that non drying kind of clay…great stuff…worked from live models,
did mostly life size face and head studies…great fun…now I am getting into Z BRUSH sculpting…even funner, and a lot less messy,…plus it allows me to combine the sculpture with my painting, which is a FANTASTIC thing to me, …opens up a whole new realm of possibilities…new frontier for me…
…THANKS AGAIN, for stopping by…real pleasure to be able to share positive thoughts…![]()

Hi Glenn…
Wow!! nice compositions with the female figures! You have something great going on here…!
Btw… have you tried increasing the smoothening in the “display” tab on your tool palatte in ZBrush? Here is what I do… After finishing the sculpt, I press F to switch off “quick” mode, go to the “display” tab on my tool palatte, push up the number-sliders in there… I forget the names… that way my model will not look faceted even if there are not enough polys in some places… Then go up to the “render” menu… switch on “shadows” and “best” and then take a screenshot. If you reposition your mesh after this, switch on “best” again before taking a screenshot. Probably you know this already… just wanted to make sure…

HEY …MARK…THANK YOU…Just experimenting and playing, while learning…
THANK YOU … Anandpg…
There is a whole lot about Z BRUSH that I don’t know, like about 90 percent of it…LOL
The advice you are giveing me is worth more than gold to me,…CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH.
Will put it all into practice very soon, that’s a promise…
Never tried what you just wrote…will give it a shot in the morning…THANKS AGAIN…Anan,

Started a new Z SPHERE figure this morning…tried out Anandpg’s advice posted above, frame #789
Cast shadows…FANTASTIC…:bounce: …THANKS Anandpg…![]()
I really like the blue on red composition. Very nice color contrast. You might want to try out the masking technique on the kneeling figure. He’s got enough resolution that you could quickly mask muscle areas and inflate them. I couldn’t figure out the zspheres, so I may have to return to them someday. I always ended up getting a deflated side.
October 28, 2006
Thank you…Womball…
Might try that masking out, if I can figure it out.
Saw somewhere, where they put a cap over with another Z sphere to get rid of the deflated side that you mentioned above …not sure if that is the same problem as yours though…thought it worth mentioning …

Cassius Clay // Sonny LISTON …THE COUNT…Using memory to creat a scene where Clay knocked down Liston, and dared him to get back up…claiming and gaining the world championship.
I remember listening to that fight on the radio when I was a little kid with my father…A huge event in those days…Anyway, thought I would try to recreat the scene that took place in my imagination…will be nice to see it from different angles…just trying something different…Will carve them in 3d next…saved them all as tools, so I can change thier poses ect…using Z sphere’s
Glenn, I love the blue sculpts in post 587. The figure going into the fire orange reminds me of glass that has been worked and begins to reveal its color as it cools.
Cris
THANK YOU …Cris
…Love that idea of blown glass…You just sparked a new idea for what to do with some of these figures…:bounce: THANKS …

A LITTLE MORE WORK ON THIS FIGURE…long ways to go.
Sonny Liston had a very deep rich black ebony skin color,…should make a nice contrast to the rich warm caramel brown gold skin color of Casius Clay…Will have to tie the figures together colorwise, with the right colors in the surrounding atmosphere…just thinking ahead…
Hi Glenn,
great project! I had to think immediately of Mark Knopfler’s great song about Sonny Liston on his album “Shangri-La” (get the album and the song! It’s great!)
"the second-last child
was the second-last king
never again was it the same
in the ring
he had a left
like henrys hammer
a right like betty bamalam
rode with the muggers
in the dark and dread
and all them sluggers
went down like lead"
It’s been a real pleasure lookup up and down the isles of your thread Glenn.
If the apocalypse comes soon, I hope this thread is still here as a reminder of what could be once again.
I have been dilligently applying your advice both on paper and in my perception. Thanks for the help! Great thread.
HAve you ever tried mudbox? I find it more intuitive than zbrush. That might jsut be me though.
It’s avery simple interface though and speedy to boot.Take care.
Eeeek - DON’T go to the Mudbox website at the moment - it’s been hacked, and you could end up with some sort of nasty virus from what I’ve heard.
Just letting you know.
