Sketchbook Thread of Spirit Dreamer

WOW! Everything is still looking very nice  It seems like I missed a lot;)

I really like this one:

Maybe the girl is a litle bit too red… or the background. I would suggest you not to do the character and the background in the same colors … I personally do not prefer this just my opinion

Your 3D work is very nice, too. I think you can work a little more on your noses. They seem not completely perfect to me

Keep at it!

Yo Glenn! Your stuff’s getting really wicked!

Excellent man!!! Hope to see more! =D

Thanks TRUNKS - Glad you enjoyed my sun fairy !!

BNN: Thank you very much for the kind words and encouragement. Hope you have good luck with the Zbrush demo you just downloaded.

This morning I experimented with lighting and color on the Zbrush face I created yesterday.
#2 has all the colors that are on my macaw’s tail feathers - the bird that is my avatar

Yo Glenn! I browsed through your Zbrush work like you told me to!

Man it’s really inspiring! Still facing some technical problems but I guess it won’t be long before I solve them -.-

Nice head sketch! I finally found the thread and hence I’m in!

Let’s press on together!

Hey Glenn

awesome man - love this last head. You’ve managed to capture the likeness flawlessly, and the highly saturated colours work very well for you. can’t wait to see some more heads from you - maybe also one or two studies in z-brush?

ciao man, keep us upadted.

Thomas Phoenix / Siju: Wow - Glad you stopped by. Really glad you liked that golden lady. Makes me feel like going on.

Abyssis : Thanks and I think that Zbrush head looks fantastic! Going to have to study it a little more to figure out how you did it! LOL

Demented: Thank you. Will try to do some more Zbrush but keep getting side-stepped by these heads.

BNN: Thanks. Am glad that you are doing these head studies. Great way to practice and develop your technique. Will have to help each other out when it comes to Zbrush I think.

FateBringer: Thank You. Glad you are enjoying my thread.

087 Another sculpture turned into a painting
Trying more of an expressionistic style on this one

Glenn,

Great to see your work for the 50 Portraits thread! You’re more than welcome to post these to the main thread, I changed the rule regarding posting 5 heads at one time and changed it to 1, since I was afraid otherwise we’d not get many posts  ~ looking forward to your participation in the main thread! Keep up the inspiring work.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

VERY VERY STRONG FOCUS!

The face of the lady practically pops out whenever I SEE IT!

Simple strokes yet it brings out so much!

Great work Glenn!!!

#496

Hey Glenn,

I really like your “sculpture-into-painting”-studies, great results…Especially the last one is amazing, I admire the loose feeling of it and that you manage to catch it with just a few well placed strokes:thumbsup: !

Have a nice day!

Hey Glenn

ooo - this last one is very strong - like that you are taking a different approach, not just copying the work but also “processing” it. colours are, as always with you, fantastic. Like that you’ve scaled down a tad on the saturation, seems to work better like that with this one. Are you using photoshop or painter? - I ask because I also want this strong brushwork in my stuff but I can’t seem to get it right with PS.

Awesome to have you posting these - really inspirational stuff man!
ciao

Great series so far. Real breadth of style that’s impressive. The bright lady’s head leaps off the page, but theres also something very likeable about the soft version of 71 – great stuff

Rebecca…THANK YOU…Will do, and thanks for the encouragment…

BNN …THANKS …Expressionism is a great style. Allows the painters emotions to surface thru brushwork,…one of my favorite styles of painting.

Thanks…daWinky…Never tried to turn sculpture into painting before. A lot of fun so far, and a lot of room for experimenting, and playing.

Demented…THANK YOU…New form of experimenting for me…GREAT FUN. In answer to your question about which program I use…I use PAINTER #9…never have touched PS…Still exploring PAINTER.:scream:

THANKS…Karry…Kind of partial to that dark one myself. Was trying for something where the viewers imagination could have room to relax, and imagine, on the journy over and thru space.

Guess I’m a glutton for punishment. Started this one last night.

Hey Glenn

Awesome work - really like this style - you seem to liberate the form from the space, pulling them out of the canvas - fascinating to watch your progress shot. really liking your gluttonous attitude - may be more work for you, but so much bigger a plaesure for me to come here!

thanx for posting, think’ll go do some copying now.
cheers!
