Wow Sara, this is some great stuff. I’m looking forward to seeing more. I know you mentioned you haven’t had any classes so massive praise for teaching yourself (I’m a big fan of that method). How long have you been drawing?

#12

Thanks:) I’ve been drawing for about three years. Before of that I only drew very rarely.

Hey Sara those are nice portraits.

I kindly invite you to have a look around at other people’s sketchbook threads as well as the tutorials and workshop forums

In the 100 heads challenge thread (Anatomy Lessons Part 1: the head) you will find more famous heads, be it from a different era than good ol’ Jimi Hendrix

Thanks , I’ll check that out:)

Welcome Sara,

Like you I was a “self-learned” drafstman, but there´s a time in your artistic life you´ll see we need teachers, masters or other artists oppinions and tips to keep learning and make your drawings better.

All people here already said you have talent, that´s present in your drawings. But I´ll need to keep trainning and studying…I´ve read somehow to drawing is like to practice a sport. You need to trainning your body everyday to get better. Try to sketch everyday, since it´s a small piece or just an idea for a later work, whatever, keep yourself trained.

Like NR43 said the Head Workshop it´s a great start. I´m in my 4th heady copy and I´m feeling improvements each exercise. You can still copying “your heads” too, but using one of the workshops can help others to compare, analyze or make a critic. Just draw it.

Anyway. Make yourself confortable here. Try to find artist with styles or ideas you like (and try to find artist with art you don´t like because they too are important to keep your visual knowledge up to date).

That´s it. Welcome.

ps.: Hope I sound clear with my English. “Mas aqui não podemos falar só em português” (but here we can´t just talk in portuguese).

Agnaldo, thanks for your advice, I’ll try to do sketches daily and I’ll also copy the heads on the workshop.
