Sketchbook Thread of piccolabella

piccolabella,

Great to see your thread here. It’s much easier to tell how you’ve been progressing. Though I may have asked you before on the Sketchathon thread, it would be great if you could tell us a bit about your art training and background so as to introduce yourself to the community.

I would encourage you to participate in this ongoing Workshop:

Anatomy Lesson Series: Body Part 2 - The Torso

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Cheers,

-Rebeccak

Hi there,

good to see this thread!
I’d love to see a longer study from you. You’ve got a great sense for proportion as seen in your 15min sketches

Enjoy the ride of having a personal sketchbook at cgtalk. Soon you’ll find yourself spending more time drawing than you could ever have imagined

here’s the latest, i took rebecca’s advice and took a peek at the torso lesson… tons of great refs in there… so here it is

Hi Melissa You’re really doing a great job on those torso’s!
If I wasn’t at work I’d do some right now :s

Keep pushing yourself, the reward will be great

#11

thanks… just trying to stay in the loop, at least one every other day, if not more. gives me a chance to play with different styles too

#12

Yo yo yo yo woman! Let’s see some more work! No excuse since you start school soon! Chop chop!

#13

since i’ve started school at Gnomon this week I decided to take some quick time to do a sketch while i was feeling a bit motivated. i know that there will be less and less time to do this for fun now so i enjoyed the minutes that i had.

#14

Hey, very cool to see this! Hope you had a great first day!

#15

ok, so we did some drawing in production design class and it was awesome so i thought i’d post some of my stuff on here since my sketchbook thread is collecting dust!

here's 3 2-minute sketches for warm up

some studies of just the fabric around her neck and face

five minute pose, playing with some color

2 20-minute poses

Nice to see your new work! Those last few pieces have some nice motion to them. We’re headed out to draw tonight at the downtown thing, come along.

#17

more “figure drawing” from class. we were encouraged to add sci fi elements to our pieces. i’m not very good at drawing what’s not there, sometimes, not even good at drawing what is there:)

#18

having some fun experimenting with mediums and styles these last few weeks. trying to do something new each time, hopefully to find a style of my own.

best toes i’ve ever drawn

These two apparently got kicked off of photobucket for nudity…

 i like your thin line and detailed style a lot ^^ esspecially in the pen/colored pencil like scratch drawings. your fabrics are wonderful too! you even have detail in the pattern on the fabrics in some of them that look really good.

on your more recent pastel drawing with the white boots i think the back has too much of a straight line, a more emphasized curve i think will do the trick to really make it look real

#21

Hi nice sketcbook, I like your ink drawings, they look a little unfinished but with great potential definitelly.
cheers

#22

thanks auria, i think you’re right about that pastel piece. might go back to that one this week while i’m on break from school.

voraz: thanks a lot. i just started drawing in ink over the last 4 months or so. always drew in pencil before. i think a lot are still unfinished because i’m still trying to get the hang of what to do in ink… shading techniques aren’t quite the same

after a bit of a tutoring lesson from Rebecca, I decided to try some more digital painting. I have 2 courses this term involving a lot of digital painting so i thought i’d brush up and dive in. this one isn’t finished yet… but i’m very excited to be working on it in my spare time.
