Gee…this subforum is so big! I feel quite lost! What will I do first…??
What to do first, you will dance with me! tra la la Great to see you with one of these Therry
Can’t wait for pics!
Can’t you see how I’m hiding behind Art2 and using MEL for protection? I’m a-feared of this subforum!
Aw now come on - it’s only Becca! She’s not always that scary
I find pimp queens scary!
Well, ok…maybe not THAT bad!
either way, I may just let this thread die into obscurity…
P’clip! Great to have you on board!
I recommend diving right in to the OFDWs…OFDW 012 definitely has it’s groove on…
I can’t possibly match up to all these talents there! I’ll just practice on paper for a while then when I feel more comfortable posting my stuff I’ll go into an OFDW.
No problem, P’clip! Frankly I think you’d be surprised how rapidly you’d improve in the OFDWs. I’ve seen tons of people go from beginner to advanced in just a few OFDWs! You’re not a beginner, and I know you can do it!!! :bounce:
Where do I post- in the OFDW thread or here? See how much of a ‘noob’ i am in this forum?
For shame, P’Clip! After all this time I’ve been knowing you!
Actually, what I encourage people to do is to first post their WIP in the OFDWs, and then to post whatever they like, including OFDW WIP and finished images, in their Anatomy Threads. This is your Anatomy Thread, so you determine what goes here.
But definitely post your OFDW work to the OFDW thread. That way, you will be able to get the most comments and critique from the group.
Ok…now I’m ‘part’ of OFDW 12! Let’s see my ‘skill0rz’ improve! (what skill0rz there be anyway)
welcome to our subforum, feel free to use our fridge.
Well, Ok, here’s my first value study. I decided to do one of my own inventions as a ‘warm up’, then I’ll do a copy of a master.
Umm… still very much a WIP as you can see…
What do you think so far?
Great start, Therry! Let’s see you push this much further, into the realm of finished piece (all grayscale). I recommend trying to find some good reference. Looking forward to your progress!
This is the hardest painting in the world to find reference for!
Crits, please, I beg of you!
Cropped & tightened it up a bit. Also, I thought it looked better flipped. (Isn’t digital great? Flip at will!)
Please bear in mind that this is just a value study & won’t be used for an actual painting.
Now that I look at it again, the foreground figure needs much more work to round it out properly. What to doooo…
I recommend finding reference for various pieces of the figures ~ arms, legs, clothing, etc. You may have to hodgepodge a collage of elements together, and then use a bit of imagination to get things to look right. It may help to take pictures of your brothers dressed up and poses and lit (I’ve seen Laura Diehl do this quite successfully).
Use your bros for all they’re worth!
They’ll probably think I’m insane, but I’ll try it!
Think of it as a subtle form of torture, disguised as an educational experience for them.
