Here are my first trials.....kinna inspired by Jan-Mark grayscale studies....

Like that technique you are using…can be developed into very dramatic and expressive

ROFL yep, I remember, and I also remember your saying something about subscribing, and I didn’t know what that was. LOL I think I wrote back saying you didn’t have to subscribe, it was free!

Hey, this is a great pic, but I have to request your keeping images to under 800 pixels wide ~ the scrolling hurts my eyes! I’d really like to see you go all Jan~Mark on this, one thing I notice right away is that the breasts are too high up on the chest ~ heh, most people draw breasts as though they grow out of the neck, which they most definitely do not. Try raising the shoulders, neck, and head a bit. Looking forward to your update!

Ok …heres an update…i fixed the breasts…and the shoulder…and abit of everything actually.:argh:
I played a bit with the shading an when i was finished…i cant stop myself from adding a layer of color on top…i just cant stand B&W pics…
more is on da way…! If im not procrastinating this weekend…that is.:surprised
ROFL Naz ~ glad you’ve added color. I think things are looking really good, the only thing at this point might be to enlarge the size of the head a bit ~ also her legs seem quite long for her torso ~ unless you’re going for a super exxaggerated style, you might want to trim those back a bit.

Thanks Beckie…here are some fix to the breasts area and a little bit here and there…I dont really know anatomy…i just paint without ref and just downloading all the photographic memory and try to tell ig the things are looking right or wong…
Its a good shading exercise fer sure!
The head size i think is ok…its just that the hand size were too small. and proportionally ok i think…beckie?
I kinna like doing exeggeratted, mangga, one-mile legs…but in this case i think its not that apparent…i guess?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to your thread, have been really busy with the SPOTLIGHT forum! Hope you’ve had the chance to look around there, so much good work it’s amazing!
I think your study is looking really good, but I really recommend working from reference.
Check out the great reference resource site, www.characterdesigns.com, and go to Photosets. There is lots of great stuff there, for free!
I think her legs are really long, but that may be a stylistic choice. If so, really try to make it work!

It’s great to see your progress here! Keep going, and keep painting - try to rely on outlines less and less, and only build form through contour. You may wish to keep outlines on a separate layer that you turn on and off alternately to check your form.
