You’re doing these fast. Fast and great looking. You’ll have 50 of them in no time! And I’ll be here to see that

Thanks Razz, Kris and alone…

23 & 24. Almost half way!

Hey, Mal. I’m thinking of doing 25 heads digitally, so this is a great inspiration to me. Love the colors on the 18-20. I hope It’ll work for me too. Keep inspiring!

#105

Hey Razz, just as you typed that I at the same time did a couple of traditional studies. Thanks for the kind words.

In a bid to hit the halfway mark, I did a quick pencil sketch.

My 25th Head!!

And a Biro one. 26th.

Good greif, this thread is treasure trove of great studies! I particularly admire your willingness to do a piece more than once when you feel you’ve learned something new. And your wips are really informative. Keep up the great work, truly impressed!

Very interesting process show here. Could yu tell something about it? And you’ve constructed that face in a pretty hard way. Was that an experiment or something? It would be very hard to me to do it like it. I mean draw one eye, the the other to the end and so on. I do about three layers of overpainting even when doing speedpaints. From very big shapes to the detail I want. So, what could you tell?

The other heads look great too. I like the look of them. Great going!

#113

Razz, thanks for the question. What I tend to do is work on one layer, I begin by squinting in at the picture and block in large areas of colour/tone then work ontop of that.By working on one layer, the colours layed down interact with each other and give the painting a balanced feel.

I take a section at a time and try and study it carefully to try and pick up as much detail as possible but still keeping it quite loose. Hope that answers your question, if not please don’t hesitate to ask again.

Number 33.

37th head, just 13 more before this mission impossible is completed.

#118

Ueah that sorta tells it. When saying “layers” I meant that I start with big shapes, then go to the little ones gradually. Not that I work on many layers. One layer enough for me  I may have told it fuzzily. I like the work you’re doing here, very great speedpaints. You’ve done a lot already, nice going. Keep at it!

May I ask you to finish one of the heads after doing all 50? Because now many of them have exceptionaly great colors, great forms and all that’s needed to sit and finish it. Just for you to know that I’d like to see one like it

#119

Razz I promise to do one of these to a more finished state for you.

Here is the latest…this is number 41 of the 50 head challenge.

#120

Thanks, man! I’ll be looking forward to it

The last one has a very dramatic feeling. The colors, lighting. Indeed a great speedpaint! Did I mention earlier that I like the style of your paintings? Well, I do  And I love the play of colors. Oh, and soon you’ll reach 50. That’s a way to go!
