I cant beleive ive been going at this since early may or june… :3
but i feel like… im ready to push it a bit more… hehehe
well here are some things…

i have a very bad habit… on drawing on post-its at work… i thought it was bs…because i thought there was no way i could scan them in. but i decieded to take the ones i did… and im surprised on how im able to scan them in :3

Well i used to remeber when I used draw (back in the day) the one area that made me not sure… of myself was the shoulders and neck…especially when you have to draw it in different positions. well i got fustrated took out an anatomy book… and just studied…it
and you know what :3 i learned somehting new. In this post it. I did everything i learned from memory. Im kidna impressed with the guy i drew. hehehee :3

a couple of more… with the post-its

did this with pen…when i got home. I am feeling more confident about this. But what lacks is my imagination to create more gestures. Hmm… listening to good music helps. You get to imagine different body positions.

I always loved drawing with pen. but you got to be precise with it… or else it gets messy

some poses you might recongize it from hogarth…and some are mine :3
you figure it out HAHAHAHA

but i did realize something. i need to work on shading. especially when it comes to where to place the shadows on the face.

Lute,

Really like the direction these types of sketches are going in:

[left]Nicely loose, structural, not literal. Keep aiming for this!

:frowning: not happy on how i drew the eyes…

#55

Hi Lute,

Keep after it! I really think you ought to try to do a few master copies from the 50 Portraits Thread. Why not just try one or two?

Cheers,

#56

thank you Rebeccak…
i have the first image on top of my computer…
im too lazy to start ^^;;;

#57

IM HERE TO PUMP CLAPS YOU UP

yawns this is not easy. i got lazy. but i have a good idea on the form. especially when i drew one front side and back side. i can imagine how it looks in 3d. but i dont think thats enough. i dont know how im going to be able to have this in my head.s o it will be easier to recall it.when i need to draw an arm
oh well.
when i have a better grasps on the arms. next stop… hands

Lute,

Nice to see these studies ~ actually am pretty impressed, these don’t look as though they cost you much effort, so keep going ~ would like to see hand studies as well.

its been a while since i’ve last updated, but like kistu said. long before.when i dont post. im actually doing something. and i have, since wednesday. ive been taking figure drawing classes. so i had stuff to but i need to take a photo of them since they’re 18 by 24. but…today i also went to class, which was cool i learned alot about the shoulder area. Im not sure how… its gonna improve my work. nor how to take the information in I guess by looking at the structure and understand how it is. ?
any tips?

Well today was a toughie, I wasnt sure if i wanted to go to figure drawing class, but i went . and it was good. The guy who posed for us. Geeze louise…he did alot of difficult poses. I was soo close to say “OH HELLLL NO, i cant draw that!”
laughs so here we go
im trying to figure out a method to capture the poses as quickly. im going to try the shapes idea again.

the last pose was 80 minutes. but the guy moved about 3 or 4 times, so the light source kept on changing… grrrrr
oh well … i am learning

That day, I learned sooo much. It was hard to do from 2 - 15 minute poses. But I tried. At the end of class the teacher pulled me over and wanted to see what i was working on.
Long story short, she was fustrated when she i used shapes to construct the image. She told me (which surprised me) that at this point, i do have a grasp on the human anatomy and i should really draw what i see. I asked her, then why do people construct the body with shapes. She stated that " the usage of shapes is mostly for biggenners to understand the mass and form.
Also, if you continue to use shapes to define things. your not going to be able to see past the true form on the body, arms will always look a cylinders legs would like cubes (etc) in which actually they cary the form of the shapes but…visually its all curves and depressions. She gave me a peice of a verterbrea to take home and told me to draw it. from every possible angle you can take off. Im going to force you to see objects, also dont forget to draw from life as much as you can

i never met a teacher who would literally try to force me into the next step.

but here are the pictures.

Lute,

It’s great to see your figure drawing class work! I think it will do you a world of good, and I am pleased to hear that your teacher is really forcing you to push your skills further. Looking forward to seeing how your pieces develop.

i’ve been working on this picture… and its at the point i dont think i can do anymore with it.

i was told that it looks to tight…and that i should work on gesturing to bring more “flow” into the body and face (sigh) but i did learn about the poroprtion thing , much more throughly
2-5 5 minutes poses in my fiugre drawing class.
