Finally got around and scanned some stuff I drew in Rome. And some other stuff too…

This one I drew in hospital while waiting. We were having a baby, but she died…
20 weeks of waiting and then no heart beat. :frowning:
Firs a Warhammer character for no real reason and then what I saw when I looked out from my window. It was a guy in wheelchair looking at the trees. Somehow that felt really sad. I guess I was pretty damn sad already though.

I'we been forcing myself to draw in public lately. My hands shake and its aughful, but at least I get something done. I just decided that every time I get a place to sit in train, I HAVE to draw, no matter how crowded the train is.

I occationally play some Warhammer with a friend, and I always lose. He has these alien creatures called Tyranids as his army and I have chaos space marines.
Translation:
Tyranid: Oh! Why did I ever defy the great forces of chaos!?
Marine: Well because all Tyranids are stupid as hell.
Tyranid: Oh, right…

This one is a part of a larger painting…

And of course I have been doing lots of 3d, but its mostly work related so I can’t show much. But Here is a character concept and the same character in zbrush (awesome program btw. Just great!)

Hey you

First of all, I’m really sorry to hear of your loss. My gf and I have had the same experience during our first pregnancy (at 14weeks). Take good care of your lady, it’s feels even worse for her than it does for us men. Together, you will find a place for this, I’m sure.

It’s really great to see all the sketches from life and imagination.
Top!

NR43: Thanks man. I really appreciate what you said.

I finally learned to texture in ZBrush… I LOVE ZBrush!!
Awesome piece of software…

Hi Jho

So sorry to hear about your baby… :frowning: hope you’re both finding
comfort together to help you through the sadness…

It’s been ages since I visited - but I do love your dream painting!
I think art is a constant emotional roller-coaster where there is everything
from doubt to elation thrown in for good measure. Spending time in Rome, it’s
not strange that you would come home feeling that ‘all the great art has already been done, why should I?’ Though I hope you stray from that feeling soon  Sometimes it’s less about trying to achieve art for the world, and more about your artistic journey from within. Let it take the time it needs

:wavey:
cheers and take care
a.

Frejasphere: Heya!
Great to hear from you.
I don’t think I ever really felt like not being able to provide something to the art world. I was just saying being surrounded by awesome art, gave me a clear picture of why someone would feel like that. I guess I don’t really care. I’m troubling myself a lot more with questions like “why am I doing this at all”.
I have tried many ways, and I’m a bit lost actually. I’m really not sure if I like drawing. Well, I am. I know I often really hate it, but I have tried living without drawing much, and it always ends up being horrible. Love/hate relationship I guess

Any chance you might be coming to the Berlin Concept Art/ Massive Black Workshop next fall? It would be great to meet you. I think I’m going, I think it might be really good for me in many ways to meet a bunch of fellow artists.
Its pretty far away for you, I know. Still, thought I’d ask if there is any chance

More train sketching.

Got some zbrushing on this guy. I started morphing and skinning. Total noob as I am, I accidentally increased the polycount of the model while zbrushing, so its damn hard to skin, but I think I’ll manage…

Been working with this guy again. Damn rigging can be hard sometimes. I spent something like 3 hours just searching for the reason why his left bicep was pointing the wrong way. Everything seemed to be in order, but there is always the one thing you didn’t remember to check sigh
Well, got him working… finally.

Painted these lighting studies for a thread in CA. Both about an hour. View out of my window…

Hi Jho

Wow, the two quick paintings are great! Lovely views and looks like your cat thinks so too
I can’t comment on your sculpting (not knowing the first thing about it…), but it looks to me like you’re going really well

It would be great to go to the Berlin Concept Art/ Massive Black Workshop - but like you say, it’s a fair distance  I do promise though, that if there’s a chance of me being on that side of the globe, I’ll definitely try to go, besides it would be a treat to meet you :wavey:

take care
a.

Frejasphere: Thanks a lot, and I really hope you’ll make it to Berlin, but I completely understand if you don’t. I didn’t expect it, just thought I should ask.

I was working on a new page on the superhero thing, and did some studies from myself. This mythical finish god (a superhero in a leather jacket in the comic) is pounding the door of the land of the dead. His brother runs the place, and they don’t like each other very much, so he’s angry.
People with hammers are hard to draw, and I wanted to get some very dramatic camera angles, so I took some pictures of myself with a hammer (don’t laugh… too much here, here and here) and studied my arms, shoulders etc.

Took a break from the 3d stuff today, apart from work of course…

Let’s see how this turns out in the end.

#334

Working on this…

#335

Just some random sketches before I start working on the Warhammer piece some more and animate the 3d thing with the dragon…

#336

This is a VERY impressive sketchbook! It has motivated me into creating one and learning to draw better.

#337

ShaneHudson: Well that’s perhaps one of the greatest compliments anyone can give, thank you very much, and I’m really glad to hear that. Good luck, and I hope you an awesome journey

Started keeping a journal of my dreams, I also though I’d try to paint most of them. Here is a start of one:

Also, I finally got my new Homepage out, please check it out.

I have played Batman: Arkham Asylum the whole weekend. Best game in ages! Can’t put it down. I rarely do fanart, but this game really made me want to paint some Batman characters. So I started painting Harley Quinn, shes one of my favorite characters in the comics too. The costume is pretty much completely my own design, just played around with it a bit, we’ll see where I end up with it…

#339

Man, managed to sit through the whole thing. I’m pretty pleased with myself, and I think it turned out fine.

#340

Worked some more on this one.
