Great sketch Jab.

And also I’m starting to read that tutorial Tonik posted. Very interesting stuff in there!

Thanks Tom, those are great tutorials. I’ve been looking at them and plan on taking a stab at it soon. In the meantime, I got home from work late and stressed last night and cranked this watercolour out before bed:

The eyes of the man with the beard don’t seem to be focusing on the same spot. Was the photo like that?

I really like the updates you’ve posted, particularly the value study with the cloak. Keep it up!

Hoping to see a nice scan of that watercolor soon. There really is nothing for me to complain about, everything is working for me! Keep it up!

Got any more candy for us?

I 've been looking at your sketches recently and I’d have to say they’re pretty solid, hope to see more

Welp, looks like I’ve been away for most of the year :frowning: Not sure what happened. Seemed like it was just yesterday I was starting a new painting, and now I see it’s been about 6 months since I touched it last. Here’s where I left off:

I decided that I should probably do a couple of weeks of sketching every day before I go back and try to finish it. I’ve gotten rusty. Boo! But I’m going to try to get back on the wagon. Yay! Here’s the latest sketch. In photoshop, from a reference (old school illustration from a book):

It was done pretty quickly. It maybe would qualify for what the kids used to call a “speedpainting,” but now it seems that term is mostly used for sped up youtube videos of practically anything. So I’ll call it a sketch. Thanks for stopping by. Really hope to get this thread going again.
