HEY…Icey …
GREAT to see you bringing some of these images to full color paintings.
When doing these, you might try to get a full RANGE of COLOR VALUES in them…just like you do with your pencil renderings…DARK TO LIGHT/LIGHT TO DARK type of thing.
The more values you have in your colors, the more real your images will appear to be.
An example,…Take that purple, and use the full range/spectrum of the color…from the lightest shade of that purple, to it’s darkest shade.
Same thing for the orange color.
Try mixing the yellows and purples,…see if you can get a full range/sprectrum of GOLDS from those two colors…Add a little orange, and green to the gold…Try making different shades of gray from different color combinations…use the grays for toning down the colors that are too bright ect. Great for doing shades of skin color.
I think that you can and should try to get a realistic rendering on these fantasy images of yours…like that whisky bottle you painted/rendered awhile back…
That kind of rendering projected into your fantasy images, will give you and your style the realism that will take it and you into a higher level.
If you can, get some books from the library on the works of Salvadore DALI…Study his painting technique, and try it out on one of your own imaginings…I think that, that is a good direction for you to follow
in developeing your own painting technique,…whether it be digital. or traditional…
Go for realism in your painting technique, just as you do in your drawing technique…
ANYWAY, it’s great to see you expanding your horizons, and venturing into the realm of PAINTING…I think you will be great at it, just takes alot of practice, and experimentation with COLOR, and all of the VALUES that can be created using it, while capturing the full SPECTRUM that it affords you
Really looking forward to seeing your progress and more of your paintings…and drawings
