Whoa!
I’m so glad I stopped by (I really have to start doing it more…), those portraits are awesome!
The sense of debth is just amazing. Especially in the Giovanni piece, and the portrait of a friend. I also love the expression in the friend portrait, it really seems to tell alot about the person. It gives a feeling that she is a really lively and happy person… Maybe a bit of a trickster(?)…
Great work! Make more, please.

#386

great … good linkness in your drawings … keep it up

#387

Jho - Thanks, kind words - and always nice to have you pop in! Yes… Janine is a lively, lovely, happy friend  glad that you can see some of her personality in the portrait.

nightwoodwolf - Thanks, glad to have you stop by here

another attempt at a digital portrait - my son; ref from a photo when he’d just done a karate grading  - not sure - I might return to tidy it up in a while…

Hi all…

It’s been a strange few weeks, saying good-bye isn’t easy
especially when departing from this world happens too quickly…
Toni - my step-grandmother who was only 71… and up til 2 weeks before she died;
in very good health - She’s a truly wonderful person! She could make anyone smile,
and I do feel so lucky to have known such a gem for so long

She was my Grandad’s wife - who died last year, and the first thing my 5 year-old
daughter said was: Toni is in the skies dancing with Grandad, and now they are both
happy! - I think she is right

so… sorry I haven’t been around commenting - will be soon.

Have started the sketching stage for an exhibition on ‘Age in All its Forms’ I’m working on for next year -as it’s based on faces and people I thought I’d post sketches and updates here.

Initially looking at different emotions and face types - charcoal and graphite sketches on A3 Paper:

HEY …Annette …

SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS.
I know that feeling too well.
Try to see it as a greater apreceation GAINED…

REALLY looking forward to seeing your emotional and age studies…:bounce:
Great start to it already…

TAKE CARE
Glenn

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, Frejasphere.

I do like your heads - especially that last one, nice. I have a book called The Artist’s Complete Guide to Facial Expressions, I haven’t gotten too deeply into it but it discusses the how and why of human emotion and expression - interesting stuff!

Good luck with your work for the exhibit, looking forward to seeing more -

#394

Thanks Glenn
Kind words :wavey: always nice to see you pop in!

Thanks Ceruleanvii  - Your book sounds interesting! Facial expressions -
paint pictures of our moods and personality, at times I feel that
emotion can get lost process of depicting a face… At least it’s an exciting
journey to work on

These sketches are very removed from end-result (I hope), but a
little start towards something packed with ideas and thoughts in my head

another digital sketch:

cheers all
a:)

#395

Sorry for your loss, Annette.

Love those portrait sketches!!

#396

I’m sorry to hear the news, Annette, that’s never easy to take. Best wishes to you.

#397

hug

take care!

Thanks so much for stopping by and posting kind thoughts; Anand, Rebecca and Johan  means a lot to me :wavey:

I’ve been drawing and painting further - (our next meeting for the exhibition
is less than a week away…)
My problem has always been that I can see the concept and the
images clearly, but find it hard
to put words on it, it’s almost as if there’s a complete conflict between visual
and words - the two just don’t go together for me. So am trying to get as many
sketches together before I sit down to write the artist-statement-submission (nightmare material  )

Anyway - enough blah blah

Charcoal drawing of David Tennant (I know he looks more scared than he should… I chose the ref image because of the lighting, and got carried away…)

… and 2 small paintings (sketch paintings)

Older woman and young boy - acrylic and charcoal on canvas

Take care all
a.

#399

artist-statement-submission…

Do you mean you must write a description for each piece of artwork?
I thought visual artists draw and paint exactly because they are better at it than at using words

Hello Annette! :wavey:

Like your artwork, especially those emotion sketches!

Best wishes!
