nice to see your work, that last one is a bit disturbing lol, but you have some very interestinig sketches, like the silhouette`s, very good idea…

A mysterious figure… oooh… who could it possibly be?
Martin, why, just who is that hunka hunka Korean love?
it’s the mac korean daddy. tell him I said hello. ;)
Really liking these strong silhouettes - when are we going to see some renders?
Cheers,

Here’s my 100 gestures after last night’s all-out battle with Min. I got there, even though it took me until 4:00am! What fun it was.
The practice helped I think, regardless of all the flaws:

Close up (I didn’t want to bore everyone with them all in detail):

Martin,
I think Min is a good influence on you.
Good to see you working at these. If you get the chance, take a look at this Gesture-drawing related post.
I also recommend more tracing exercises of Master Works. Trace only the lay in and the masses of forms. I think this exercise is very useful to train your hand and eye as to what to look for.
Cheers,

Ta Rebeccaness! I’ll get into that article when I can!
I was watching the John Carmack Quakecon 2006 Keynote today, so I thought i’d draw him. Badly.
He looks a bit like he’s… busy… 0_o That was suppose to be his pocket!

Hey man,
awesome thread
amazing progress between the first and the last posts.
Love the 100 gestures.
I’ve been neglecting gesture drawing…
Thanks for the reminder
Thanks man. At least you’re seeing some improvement… I guess I should remind myself of that occasionally.
Here’s a quick Sargent Value study.

More sketches, or more quality? Cause quality is really lacking right now!
Artrage doodling. Woo.

Odd, that plain dot is somehow overwhelming the figure in the last one
I quite like the old guy sketch, it seems loose and comfortable and has the character / mood articulated. Since there was the previous mention of linework here I can’t help but be drawn to the upper right corner of the chair, those lines seem unexpected and busy in an otherwise loose piece.
It does seem to be worth finding time to keep drawing, hope you can work it into your schedule
I really enjoyed looking at your skeches esp. the pages with lots of figure on each page - and the sketchgroup sketches - and oh ya the silouettes are great!
Gord
Yup, it’s what I like to call “Screwing around with Rule Of Thirds”, or “How to destroy a simple composition by adding a dot”.

Yeah, you’re right about the lines… that was the only area I fussed over too much to get right without erasing. Should have just left my first stroke. Very observant of you.
Hey Gord! Thanks!
Great gesture work! I really need to do that more, very organic lines you get.
Not sure how a dot would destroy a composistion, but it sounds like an idea for an animation.

Well I noticed when I added the dot it entirely drew the eye away from the head of the subject. Kind of not the focus.
And this here was just another quicky to relax with.
