Hello and good morning!

A new WIP, I don’t have any idea where to go now with the picture. I have got a lot to learn and problems to render it out more than this.

and only the babydragon

I like much the turn that u gave to the paint, and the volcano’s detail is just excellent.

Also the colors looks better for me, congrats

Hi Digital Sol,

thank you, I wish I could blend much better, but I aill wait a few days and then watching this dragon again.

Back to anatomy, lol, in the morning I took a self-photoshooting. Hehe, no, I don’t show it, but for what I did it, take a look.

I imagine a river, it is dark, and an “thickish Ellie with spocky ears” rofl is sitting on a limb.

Watching something glowing, perhaps a firefly? I don’t know. It is bothering me to struggle with details and the f… blending. ups I can foresee to run around the park watching trees, light an textures. And much more.

Nice new sketch  I think the anatomy needs a little work, I think her thighs should be longer. Other than that Great work! Keep it going!

Hi enialadam,

thanks for stopping. Hmpf, I don’t know, working at least from Photoref for the anatomy. Perhaps it looks that way because my legs are not very long? lol I’ll check it out.

I tried to refine the dragon today.

Hello,

oh, I need more skills to go to a further level in this game…

A colored wip, the anatomy seems to be right, it looks wrong, but I used myself as reference.

Some real nice stuff here. Like the mood of the woman in the swamp/forest. Only advice now is to use longer more confident strokes - it seems you are petting your lines a bit too much. It’ll also give your works a more unified feel.

These look great so far - keep at it!

Your skill set seams adequate (from what I’ve seen so far), I just think you need to go reference hunting… that always seems to be the solution whenever I find that I’m stuck on something… so go look at other artist, see how they dealt with the problem you’re having, or go look at life or photographs. look, analyse and apply. and just keep working at it, I’m sure you’ll get there.

Hi Ellie,

I would recommend for your pieces using a round, and not a square brush. Square brushes are difficult to blend, and I think life will be easier if you avoid using them.

I think the key to drawing a clothed figure is to first sketch the figure in without clothes. Hehe, I know you will be embarrassed by that comment, but of course the figure is abstracted from yourself. You might try looking at reference from www.characterdesigns.com and other reference sources also. www.3d.sk is a good one and relatively inexpensive.

Looking forward as always to an update!

Cheers,

Hi…Ellie…:wavey:

Really like the woman…YOU…by the waters edge painting that you are working on…:applause:
Have you seen any of … Dunkelgold // Benita Winckler’s paintings…She is a member, so
just type her name in, and you can find her work.
I think you will get a lot of inspiration and ideas from her paintings…enjoy the MAGIC…

Hi all,

yes, yes, yes… a round brush. OK. And longer strokes. You are right, I think it is a problem that I try to struggle too much on to details than rather on the hole figures. My brain fools me.

Yesterday I watched out for a similar ref but couldn’t find one, so you have to watch at this… lol.

Since sunday I am 38 years old, sniff, and my boyfriend gave me a book about nude drawing (by G. Kleber) and so I have more stuff to learn how to see lines and form. And one more “What is art?”.

Mr. Spirit Dreamer, thank you for the advice, it is really nice stuff of dunkelgold.

pretty good, the face messes it a bit up.
proportions are well done. the hair looks a bit solid
keep it up

Hi Ellie,

Well, you don’t have to post your personal references but if you feel comfortable doing so, then by all means.

I really like the new sketch and the linework, particularly for the legs and torso. I think the arms, head and neck need a bit more refining and work. It would be nice to see this done as a sort of sepia toned painting. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress.

Cheers,

Hi Rebecca,

this is ok, because everybody could see me like this an the beach. Hmmm… I feel struggeling with everything, but this seems to be normal I hope. To sketch rough works a bit, but then render an image… puh. Hard job for me, though there are so many tutorials and advices at the end by you and other users.

But I go on, hehe. Things that won’t kill you makes you harder… lol.

Hey Ell - This piece is coming along nicely. You are really starting to see the fullness of her form. I especially like how you have gotten her chest done, except her left boob is not hanging as much as the original picture. However, if you are sitting her up a little like you have the picture I guess it wouldn’t. I like the scene, with the angle wings in the clouds. It reminds me of Zeph’s OFDW a while back. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=3232332&postcount=437 Keep going with it!

Ellie,

One thing that might help is to create a layer above all of your existing layers and fill it with a medium opacity gray ~ then copy merge your layers (Ctrl + Shift + C) and paste them, and start to paint again on that. One problem I think you’re running into is that your values are too light too soon ~ really you want to use values in the really light / white range very sparingly. If you look at a photograph of a very light skinned person in grayscale, you will find that the values are surprisingly medium to dark in value. Try to use the full range of values ~ from white to black ~ and try to stay in the medium value range, with sparing highlights.

Hi,

went down to the cellar and found some old things, also some pieces of charcoal and some drawing pen spires (? right word). Trying out charcoal, the last time I used them at school, lol. Ref used.

With the angel, I thought to use lighter tones, because I think there would be more light in the clouds. Dont’t think - only draw might be the solution?

And a color test…

Perhaps it is a stupid question, but I have a problem with the web export in PShop 6.0. Normally I calibrated PS for Preprint, so used the icc profiles for them. But if I export it for web it doesn’t work anymore. That is ok, cause this must be this way, I tried out some other profiles but don’t know how to manage the problem.

The only way I can keep the color is to do a screenshot and import it to Corel Paint, lol, but that can’t be the right way.
