Beautiful sketches Ellie! I am sorry about your arm, I think we will start a tendinitis support group forum hehe. Best of luck with finding a treatment and I hope that it heals soon.

Hi Rebecca,

Hi,

thank you both. My arm hurts a bit, but works. Trying to do something with less pressure: acrylic… never done this before, but trial & error.

Ciao,
Ellie

Hmmm, after ref of a dog’s skull. About 2,5 hrs. ca. 20 x 30 cm, bad colours, because it is pretty dark here at night (artificial light).

#247

Very nice, especially for a first effort! Heh, we’ll have to start a support group for you and Johan. Art addicts anonymous.

#248

Hi Rebecca,

it is much easier to work with a brush for my arm. One digital more from the last weekend, thanks to Ron :), a great model.

Ciao,
Ellie

Speedy, without pressure, about 2 hrs., very low res (800*600 at 72 dpi)

And playing around with layer modi gg

#249

Thats really nice Ellie. I like the modified version a bit more – it is reminiscent of old paper, and the painting stands up well in it.

My sympathizes on your arm, I’ve had a few twinges out of mine over the years that keep me using a light touch. That has kept off the worst for me, hopefully just being careful with it will be enough to hold off the worst for you.

nice study
like the traditional feel it has

#251

Hi, Ellie. I’m enthrawled with your drawing of me! I’m a painter myself. Taught art and crafts for thirty years till I took early retirement. Still draw and paint myself and exhibit. I’m a traditionalist, though. LOL. Brought up on oils and water colour. I do have an Intuos 3 tablet but I haven’t the right software to go with it. I’ve tried it with Coral Paint, but I feel handicapped. Can’t seem to co-ordinate my hand down on the tablet with my eyes up on the computer desktop.
I’m inclined to like your first impression of me more because of it’s ‘painterly’ feel, showing brush strokes, but the second one has a strange attraction for me which I can’t describe. How did you acheive that scratchy texture throughout?

Ronnie.

#252

Hi Ellie! awesome sketches! I love the painting of Ron! that color-burned effect you put on the second version is really nice.

#253

Hi,

thank you :).

Brushes, it is easy to build own brushes, I only have a really old version of PShop, but in the online helpfile there is a simple instruction how to do it. You can also take a real brush and make some strokes on paper, scan it and then use them as a brushtool, there are many possibilities.

The effekt of the texture is also simple, using the blend mode (layermodus) and play around with them. If you for example the “darker”-modus then all areas of the overlay layer darkened up the layer under it and so on. (Arrg, have the german version, don’t know how to translate)

I can share my own Elliebrushes (right click to save on disk, 2MB) if someone is interested in.

Ciao,
Ellie

Hi Ellie, nice work. I like the way you draw animals and your sence of humor. The painting from Ron looks good too. Keep going!

#255

Hi,

scanned the pic because the light always changing… funny thing going analog.

Ciao,
Ellie

second step

#256

Looking good - would like to see a bit more value as well as hue differences in the skull - but has a nice overall feel to it, and is shaping up nicely.

#257

Hi rebecca,

thank you. It is pretty difficult going analog lol. Trying some more, ref used.

Acrylics on paper.

Ciao,
Ellie

#258

#259

Hi and ciao,
Ellie :scream:

whimsical stuff… ref used for the uterus.

“Insert coin”

serious stuff lol

Sketch without ref. Perhaps a gift for the mother of my boyfriend in acrylics?

#260

Hi…Ellie…
Really like those latest figure studies, …That uterus painting is diffenitly thought provoking…LOL :scream:
I also like the flowers with no refferences…Below is a link to a CG artist, who does something in a similar manner, without reference as he paints…most of the time he uses only memory in his paintings and compositions…He’s the best still life painter in here that I have seen using digital…think you might really enjoy his works, and they may be of help to you in that flower painting you are working on also…

http://waheednasir.cgsociety.org/gallery/

You might have to type his name in to the finished 2d section, to see all the still lifes that he has posted in there…he doesn’t have any in his portfolio at the moment, but he has a ton of them that he posted in the 2d finished section, over the last few years…they are all BEAUTIFUL, and for sure worth a look see…:bounce:

ALWAYS A REAL PLEASURE SEEING YOUR WORKS …Ellie…
