Thanks Rebecca. I prefer this one too.
Sketchbook Thread of Cujo03
Ouf, been busy for the past month. Finally went to LD session last night. A bit rusty again… But did some doodling and came up with a pose for the icarus subject. The other 2 is from life.
I recently participated in an art symposium. I won honourable mention for the drawing ‘Karl’.

I also made 2 paintings on site. A portrait and figure painting.
your studies are going great and your skill with doing muscular relief is pretty cool man. love your latest piece. ![]()
Hey, Cujo! Awesome to have you back. Really the best Icarus’s pose from all the shown before. When will you start painting it?
The lif drawings are looking sweet! Great line in the first one and good sense of perspective in the second one. Would like to see some more of these. Wish there was a life drawing class anywhere where I’m at…there isn’t
But a pleasure to watch your drawings.
Couldn’t say anything more than excellent for the paintings. Maybe you have some WIP photos?
Again, good to see you back. Don’t disappear again for such a period of time
Thanks Salubri3i. I havent done figure in color for awhile.
Thanks Razz for the welcome back. Yeah, I have been busy with work, family and the festival. I think I will be teaching life drawing and basic drawing for the festival if there is enough ppl. Also been planning the details for a home studio or for a place to teach. I still have to do a full rendering of this icarus drawing but I have to decide on the posing first. I will do WIP for sure. FOr the painting, I forgot my camera so I did not take any WIP photos. sorry
No need to be sorry, Cujo. It’s just that I’m trying to learn to paint traditionaly, because I’m bad at it. Painting with acrylics now. I was told that it’s easier to use other medium after learning acrylics. Well should be, because acrylics seemed pretty hard to control. What did you use for these paintings? And is it possible to have a closer look at them? And one more thing, do you know a good place on web about painting traditionaly? I’m ready to learn.
That would be about it, I think I’m asking too much questions
Hey razz. I dont like acrylics. It dries too fast or I am too slow. There are a lot of techniques in oil painting. I wish there is a book on it. I think there is but I dont know.
Here are some tutorials you can check out:

I myself am learning oil painting. I am always struggling with color, tones and values. What I suggest is to take one of a master’s drawing or painting (lets say Bouguereau or Sargent) and reproduce it. Copy it. From that you will learn a ton.
I will try to snap a pic with daylight over the weekend.
Thanks NR43
This is a better snapshot of the paintings. As you can see my camera or my monitor is off sync. The color doesnt look anything like the painting. I color corrected it (right) and it looks very close to the painting but I know my monitor is off too.
Some figure studies and some clothed ones when the model did not show up. (About a couple months ago)

Thanks SpiritDreamer. I really like that one too. The model asked me if I wanna sell it to him.
Thanks for the compliment NR43. I try to do some here and there outside of work.
