Hey Richa!! Good start on the relief!.. I used that clay once … really good for terracotta, so you might wanna think of finding a place to bake your sculptures. :slight_smile: It dries up real fast if I remember right, so you have to take good care of your piece while you are working on it! Enjoy! :buttrock:

Look forward to updates on your claysculpting - you’ve made a nice start
& like Anand said - as long as you don’t let it dry out (wrap it but don’t overwet)
you’ll have a ball :slight_smile:
If you find any cracks - vinegar will go a long way as it wets the clay and allows it
to remould to itself. Depending on the result you’re looking for (smooth or textured),
I find your own fingers are the best tools for all sorts of texture and ‘life’.

Your faces & heads are coming along as well! great to see :slight_smile:

Hi Richa! Whoa! Nice painting. I really loved the way you ve blended the Grey tones and formed up some flesh into this lady! But few parts I feel you would ve finalised drawing before u had started painting. Like the upper arm which is looking short and deformed. May be you ve tried foreshortening here, but not exceuted properly. Also the foot and face needs more development.
Keep it up and waiting for changes! :wink:

Hi Richa,

great to see you posting here again!
Nice birds!

I particularly like the prey bird drawing in the 2nd but last post.
One thing I noticed is that the contrast in value is a lot higher at the feet and tail, than it is at the head of the bird. This may be fixed if you darken the background and the rock/wood on which it is standing, while at the same time increase the contrast where the eye is. Some darker values here and there on the head and a bit more highlights (eg with white chalk or paint) inside the eye will do the trick.

Hi Richa, nice animal studies! I like all the feather details in the bird above, and you handled the texture of the elephant skin nicely. If you’re interested in drawing animals you might like to have a look at these books:

Nice thread! Your drawings are great, and I really like your sculptural work too! Hmm…as I look through your drawings, I notice something that I’ve been noticing a lot lately with my own studies: the best drawings usually come from the best reference photos. Some reference photos might have a nice angle of the subject or a great composition, but the value range and lighting just isn’t helpful for showing off the forms. I notice that on a couple of your drawings, and recently I’ve noticed that on a whole bunch of my own. I’ve been thinking that I should get a lot more picky about reference photos, making sure that there is an interesting, dynamic value range and dimensional lighting. Anyway, sorry for rambling, just thinking out loud. Cheers, and keep up the good work!

Nice portrait drawings.
Why not incorporate a vague hint to a background on your next drawings?
It would give your portraits a more finished look. Doesn’t have to be detailed or anything, just kill the big whitespace (especially in case of the last one, the buste of that woman carrying a large bowl).
