Sketchbook Thread of Cavematty

#22

I had a lot of fun with the heads so im quite excited about this one
Ive been drawing from bridgeman a little recently, and been back to lifedrawing classes for the first time in about 3years, so its a good time for this to come up, while my passion is running high.
Anyways, heres #1/50, its a copy of a section of #060

i hope some the guys that inspired me last time will be back (i know zhuzhu will be in right? hehe look forward to it mate ).

enjoy.

been keeping busy with work and been going to life drawing again recently. Might post up a few of my drawings from the classes soon, jus to flesh this sucker out (get it nice and big like zhu zhus thread :P) and maybe even some of the drawings ive been doing from bridgeman? :stuck_out_tongue:
These challenges are always a great motivation though

#24

Hey y’all. Been on holiday for a while, so i kinda fell outta the torso’s contest. However I did take a Bridgeman and a Hogarth book with me… so its not like ive been doing nothing :stuck_out_tongue:
It was nice to be away from the computer for a bit, but its good to be back too
Anywyas I thought id scan in a few of my favourite sketchbook pages and post them up on a regular basis, jus to keep track of my progress.
So here’s the first couple :

All of your work is fantastic! Some of the best shading I have seen too. Really like the pegs through the arm to understand the opposing curves.

#26

Hey Womball, thanks heaps for the comments. I must point out though that those are copies of great artitst works from instructional books. The pegs unfortunately weren’t my idea :stuck_out_tongue:
But thanks for your kind words nonetheless.
With that kind of response I’ll throw some more up tomorrow then maybe
Peace.

Very nice sketches, Cavematty. Really enjoyed watching the through. Great to see you at the torso challenge. Just getting started, eh? Looking forward to more torsos from you. And the Hogarth studies are looking good! I likte the bottom one the most, nice sketchy lines in it, good gestures. Would love to see more of that. I always like seeing a gesture drawing and a more worked on figure of that gesture. Somehow they look so nice together

#29

Hi Matty!
nice studies!.. great work on the heads too!

#30

He y’all, jus a couple more hogarth studies.

Waiting to see more updates from you… Two thumps up

#33

hey guys a couple more pages from lunchtime. Hogarth still. I jus got the dynamic hands book and im really digging his style in it.
One of the arms was posted yest but i drew on the same page so…

sivan - i jus use a 0.5 mech pencil and scan that sucker in. 2B lead tho. soft as u can get. The Bridgemans are done with a 4B cluth pencil, but i only posted up one page of those right? cool.
enjoy

#34

wow those are really great studies - bravo!

#35

just dropping by to take a quick look before i get off work.

thanks for the paintover again by the way. it was a great help.

#36

Hey Matty!!

Cool drawings again… eager to see your ZBrush work! :bounce:

#37

hey guys. Thanks for the visits

Hey thanks intervain. It really makes me wanna keep posting regularly when i know people are stopping in
Thats why im posting today even though i only have one page to put up :frowning: i got distracted last night watching dazed and confused - i love that movie. My gf hadnt seen it before.

Salubri3i - ur more than welcome, glad it helped. Yeah ‘ur people’ get a round haha! and they did treat me well - the first fellow was my best frined for years  That anatomy book spirit dreamer was talking about in ur thread is the one im mainly drawing from in here, or a different one by the same guy anyway. It is very helpful, though yeah, you dont wanna end up with his style (i find his full figures a bit rubbery for my liking - he loves to exaggerate the cruves, but it really helps to clarify what he is teaching.

anandpg - ill post a zbrush study soon, promise

anyways here’s todays measely one page that i promised :stuck_out_tongue:
