those are some sketch from the last year.the are just a4 because i brought a lot of a4 papers from thailand for sketching around the cities of florence.(i knew that it’s not hard to find paper in old city of florence but i’s worried about the cost hehe.cause i never been outside thailand before:blush: many thai guys told me everything in italy are very veyr much more expensive than bangkok, and i felt so scary.u know first time i was here i couldn’t buy hamberger or coke.hahaha.because i had uauaslly converted the europian EURO to thai BAHT[1euro=48 baht]so when i wanted to buy something i had to walk around the city to check the cheapest price.LOL.)
finally when i was here i never use the a4 paper to sketch any cityscape of florence because i always use my camera.lol.now i just bought new big sketch book for the class of nude.

ps:now i quit converting Euro to Baht.when i want to buy some thing like jacket i had to tell myself "oh it’s only almost 300[euro]! "

Greatto–hi mate,thanks for comment. i’ll have update every week i hope.cheers:)

Rebeccak–hi,thanks for checking out my works and letting me post here.
here is my school in florence.the english verson has never been updated.(i saw it said that it will be online soon since cuople of year lol.)for the info:someone told me it’s oldest art school in the world!?(wow).and the location is beside the Galleria dell’ Accademia, where the REAL Dvid of Michaelangelo is inside.

I have one professor of painting class.but his class has no model for student.so i often go to to draw some models in another open class called “scuola del nudo”.it’s the place for whoever in the school to join.it’s opened on monday and tuesday.and also there are some artists from outside the school in the class but i don’t know how they can join the class.there is a lady professor who is the keeper of the class and she will give comments to everyone in the class (in italian).

about me i had my painting class on monday and tuesday too.same time same day as the nude class.so i have to go upstair to paint and downstair to join the class of nude.it’s funny.students in the school are international.they are very friendly.

i decided to spend 5 hours a day from monday to friday for italian because i like italian and i need to use it here.i am now able to understand only easy phases of italian so it’s big problem to communicate with my professor and other artists cause less people in the school can speak thai or english.(and my english is very poor as well)so… for now the best thing for me here is to observe evrything around myself here.in florence there are lot of figurative thing for me to see and learn.

SpiritDreamer–thanks Glenn,i just found that you have a very vey very long sketchbook here.   (Greatto just let me see his sketch book yesterday so i just found new cool place to learn and to spam my drawing.take care.

Wow, I think that it’s amazing that you are doing the real deal and studying in Florence - thank you for sharing your experiences!

I think that the first two drawings of this last set have a really nice feeling especially - the shading is really calm and consistent yet has an energetic life to the line which is a nice combination. Definitely looking forward to more! It’s quite funny to hear about your school and its quirks - I guess all schools must have them.

Hi,I couldn’t update this thread since I lost my ex digital camera and I have no scaner to bring my traditional media works to digital media in order to post here:banghead: .However I have some 3d…ooddle to let you see. It’s my first digital model of human.I used mudbox. The refs is a french actor(hope i didn’t say something wrong ^^’ coz I don’t know much about the background of him but I saw him in some french movies. )I don’t know french language but in english his name is ‘Gaspard Ulliel’.Crits are welcome.

I followed the refs only for the head but for the torso I made it myself.Though it’s still wip but I really like it.Don’t know how you think.Crits are welcome.

the old schools sometimes are the best my friend, or at least I think everyone should go there for a while, before choosing a different direction (I am also at a very old school and I’m having a blast there)

That last sculpt is looking great. Are you planning to do the whole body?

#22

hi NR43,I’m not sure that I’ll do whole body.I started it from a sphere and then it became a head and then the torso and now it takes too many polygons so I hard to go on the res of body.lol.Because I don’t know the technic to make 3d model with lowpolygon before.I think I’ll look for some good tutorial for 3d and maybe i have to leave him like this if I can’t solve the problem about polygon.
thanks for dropping by.take care:)

Hi…Thitipon…

GREAT for a first try in 3d…I think you’ll be a natural at it in no time.
Im pretty new at 3d myself, so I can’t help you out on the technical part that much…i’m using Z BRUSH,…not sure how the MUD BOX program works, and how it is diferent from Z BRUSH, but the basic principles of sculpting are the same in each program I think.
The way that I have been aproaching it, is to really get the facial planes / bones, and skull established right from the start, consentrating on the underlying bone structure, while the model is still in a low poly form, with all of those nice facets exposed…I use those facets to creat the different planes,…just like you do when your blocking in a painting, with rough forms that can later be refined…saving the details for last…Once the skull and face are established, I block in the hair, in the same manner, taking advantage of all of those nice low poly facets to creat the forms / volumes of the hair. I don’t even know if MUD BOX has those low poly facets that I just mentioned,…if not than disregard what I just mentioned…:scream:

Just my pesonal opinion here…
Your in a perfect position and place, to study some of the greatest sculptors that ever exsisted…Bernneni, ect. ect…If I were in your shoes, I would be doing alot of studies from those sculptures that surround you where your at, in trying to master 3d rather than working from photos…just a thought that crossed my mind while writing this…

Anyway,…It’s GREAT to see you posting in here again, and i’m REALLY looking forward to seeing where this 3d that you are entering into leads you to…SHOULD BE GREAT …I THINK…

hi Glenn. Thanks a lot for your reply.I don’t know much about the mudbox too.lol.but i’m it’s good to learn more about it.
I didn’t follow the step of the plane structure before the details coz i dun know anything at that time and I used only a basic tool to model.and without any tutorial so i wish i could find a way to reduce my too much polygons:banghead: or if i can’t i am ok to start another piece with no being mad.and ofcoz I will be careful about the smart step.
anyway, like you mention here are a lot of masterpieces around me and i am lucky enough to be able to see them closely.so I usually spend times outside to see.to draw,to take pictures.it would be so good if now i am already good at 3d and i can bring my computer to model some great masterpieces somewhere in town…However I am so happy here.
