I tried to make a 2nd version, which the character is talking to a character in screen left. In this version, he sticks his arm to his back, the “incapable of doing this” hand gesture is smaller, and he does a lean in at the end.

I kind of like the second one–

Use some overlap, delay his head from arriving, etc.
His IK on his sword hand; keep it subtley moving all the time.
