Singin' in the Rain, Andrew James Pyott (3D)

Title: Singin’ in the Rain
Name: Andrew James Pyott
Country: España
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop

This piece appeared when I came accross an old file with my character ‘Franky’, which I modelled and rigged about two years ago. Something had happend to the file and it had got corrupted, so I had to strip him down, clean up the file, then re-rig.

I wanted to put him in a background that would do him justice, applying skills that I have learnt over the last year and that I think makes the character more appealing.

I’m a bit of a film freak, and I wanted to do a homeage, in this case to the film with the same title. Hope you enjoy. C + C’s are most welcome.

First of all, I really like your idea and I see what you’re trying to say.
But… But it doesn’t look like your scene under the rain. It looks like you just put rain strikes over rendered image in Photoshop and that’s it. And although your main character and a street lamp are in good relations but everything else is not, overall lighting is poor and background looks flat. And also you could bring more life into your robot through some facial expression or may be through some changes in his pose.
But again, idea is great, hope you’ll find something useful in my comment.

Thanks for your comment. Your are 100% correct in everything that you have said. I definately need to work on my lighting and rendering skills. Thanks for your honesty
