Simple but important question about a basic wings function... GPS related I guess..

okay I love wings3d and i would totally use it a lot more if i could just have one thing changed. you know how you start out when you create any given shape, say a sphere. okay you model and stuff and you get this big complex image…but its like there is something weird because its like the object is the center of the whole project and there is no way to easily pan around like in other 3d objects. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I hope I am explaining clear enough.

Okay, in Cinema 4d, I can make a cube, and then easily pan over away from the box and then work in another area…things are easily spread out and you can pan to different 3d quadrents…but in Wings3D, it seems that you are stuck in one spot…and if you want to move stuff, you have to select it all and then move it away… but it just doesnt feel right. Is there a way to change this?

I hope I have been clear. Thanks for any input

Select something, Press A (View | Aim hotkey) to create new camera aimpoint / centre of rotation.
Checkout contents of bottom main info line for camera controls, as these depend on what camera mode is in use / how many mouse buttons etc.
Change camera mode via Edit | Prefs > Camera … there’s 6 to choose from (note other camera related prefs there also)
Note that keystrokes are referred to with square brkts around them - eg [Q] - in Mirai mode.

Have no idea if you’re using Advanced menus (enable via Edit | Prefs > Advanced) - but reading the info line contents will then be (more or less) essential - as all 3 mouse buttons (or their equivalents) access different tool / command options.

The right hand side of this info line also gives extremely important options for stuff under certain conditions etc. (ditto for top left info display, btw)

(if not already seen / found, there’s a few meagre scratchings re wgs here …www.puzzledpaul.com)
