Silo 2021 + Milo is now available

Good to see Nevercenter updated this program. I plan to test it out by modeling a Storm Trooper helmet for May 4th.

It’s taking a while to get back into Silo. Here’s how far I’ve gotten in testing.

Here are some problems I’ve noticed. Otherwise it’s actually refreshing to box model with Silo again. It still feels amazingly simple if you understand polygon flow.

  1. In Mirror Symmetry mode the Split Loop doesn’t create even splits on both sides. Edges in the mirror side would come off wrong. I don’t know if that was there before 2021 but I guess it’s best to stay away from modelling in Mirror mode until you’ve made the majority of the details.

  2. Large imported objects will still cause crashes if you push the subdivision past the limit.
