Not to argue with you Leigh, but I think it might be beneficial to those new to cg who may be trying to put together a work station. Seeing what’s being commonly used might help them make an informed decision…

Maybe the thread could be renamed to something more official like “Exampel Rigs” or whatever would be more appropriate.

My desk after eight hours of hard work

Samo, how do you like your 1220c printer? I’ve been thinking of getting rid of mine because I’ve never been able to get the color output I wanted…even using GIMP :hmm:

#566

Whats that laptop you’re sportin’ there Leigh? It doesn’t look like a powerbook, but its still nice and thin.

#567

Hola Segvoia
Well, she does her job quite well, just for plans and technical drawings that can be fitted in A3.
HP 1220C is quite an old model and AFAIK It is not longer produced (but sold like hotcakes)
Your problem could be a monitor issue. I have a high contrast flat CRT calibrated by software and the colour output is good IMO, more or less what I have on screen. I’ve printed some renders with him, but you need a good glossy paper to get consistent colours.

Hello!
I don’t have any photo of my workstation. But… I got a render which is very close to the real thing, including the desk and everything that’s in it:

Kewl, thanks.

You guys have some impressive rigs!

I might as well jump on the bandwagon, here’s mine

Specs:

500w PSU

(Thinking of upgrading to a 7800)
Giga-Byte nForce 3
1 GB of DDR-3200 RAM

It’s not without its charm, but seeing an Aeron chair, a Power Mac G5, and a new Cinema Display on a desk like that…

I see you have a Kensington Expert Mouse! I use one as well (the previous model though), and can’t live without it. What do you use it for?

#580

Thank you for the compliment!

For years trackballs have been my main HID device, they offer finer control and less stress on the hands when manipulating objects for long periods of time. The only thing I use the mouse for these days is gaming
