Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#941

Oh Jamie! Where art thou? Me109 is the one who rigged CGL. He’s really a genius at it.
E-mail or msn him to figure out what to do.

SirRon: Yeah I wonder who worried us there like that I wonder…

Maronson: About panel 21 where CGL closes the door:curious:…does she have to close the door? Can the TaxiCab do that for her? It makes sense to me…as an animator. It also makes sense to make it look realistic as possible.

I prefer Taxi Cab closing the door if you don’t mind… :shrug:There’s not enough timing for Liza to close the door herself…and besides…if TaxiCab was the one who opened his own door…wouldn’t he be the one to close it back?

I’m gong hoin’ for it…I’m animating away…I need to get this over w/…

#942

Oie! It’s me again. Freddy wouldn’t have this problem…but CGL is! When she enters the TaxiCab…there’s not enough space for her knees…:banghead: I guess no one else is having that problem…because it’s only Freddy and Freddy does not have flowing huge skirt like CGL (lol).

I’d suggest to resize and re-position the seat infront…if that’s okay w/ everybody. What do you guys think?

Animating animating animating away…

#943

That’s what I did… Freddy had the same problem

As for the comments on the other post. I think that makes sense. BTW, I have cut the original file on different segments so I can animate each shot separatedly :stuck_out_tongue: When I am done I will upload the .MB files zipped with their own wav files.

rotateY = 98.098289

#945

Aww man, I was kind of close, 99.132 :stuck_out_tongue:

edit:
90% completed shot 19 (cab opening door for Eliza) check out the quicktime playblast here.

Some comments posted in my WIP (see signature).

About the chairs:
Yeah, the moment I saw how the chairs were positioned I thought we’re going to have to move them for a character to get in.

#946

yeah… i am facing the same problem here… but because she dosn’t move that much in my scenes i’ve solved the problem by rotating the taxiCab instead…
That was the solution for me…

I am sure Me109 will post a solution for that…

#947

True dat! Nemirc : Darling did you say you moved the chair too? If so what’s the xyz position? And warning: if yours isn’t further away from her knee enough…I might come back with you on my position. Okay w/ you on that?

SirRon : True dat w/ your animation on Taxi’s opening his door. I was wondering even why he shouldn’t close it back himself. Not enough time for Eliza to close it back anyway. :stuck_out_tongue: :smiley:Maronson is going to have to accept a “spooky-dooky” feel to it.

But low and behold…I did a squash and stretch for TaxiCab when closing the door. Unfortunately it didn’t look right at all w/ Eliza in TaxiCab. For the sake of continuity…I’ll do that same type of squash and stretch at the beginning…okie docky?

Omarhib : Eheh…and I thought it was only me! We’ll have to e-report this issue w/ Me109 … he needs to know that because I can’t recall him mentioning such an issue before.

You guys didn’t notice that…her right hip at back was awkwardly high in my blast? I did some weights on it…but this non-flexible torso is the main cause. :banghead:

We must resolve those issues…now! It’s the 3rd of March. I really want our works to go on the BIG screen.

Edit: I just laughed hysterically at all that rowrow…(rowrow means drama in colloquial creole). :scream:

Edit again: Nemirc : I just re-read what you said about zipping it as an .mb file. Since we were having different versions of Maya…that might cause a problem. Put it as an .ma file instead. Okay deary.

Oie: I just realize something: the skirt. Are you guys having any issues w/ the CGL’s skirt? Upon entering TaxiCab…her skirt seeps through poor Taxi. I think Me109 knows about that…but I’m not 100% sure. :argh:

#948

The taxi door can close by itself without spooking the audience since they already saw the door open by itself.

Does it make any sense for all of you to REMOVE the front taxi seat? The taxi drives itself, who would sit there?

yes? no? maybe?

#950

Darling…
Anyway, this is it: Z = 0.008

#951

hehe, nice :stuck_out_tongue: :buttrock:

#952

I like the new delay before Freddy walks off.

#953

[left]Crap! thats looking nasty! jeezzzzz… sorry guys I really missed that one…
Thats something to do with the IK spline I’m using for the back setup… I have a script automatically advancing the twist on the IK… but it appears to also freeze it in world co -ords… damn damn damn…

OK… I’ll work to resolving this issue today…

Loulu I checked out the fingernails… and didnt see any problems?? are you still?

cheers guys for the info

BTW Me109, the skinning on the right shoulder for the hi poly model needs help, but the left side is perfectly fine. Not much work needed though, nothing that a good old mirror skin weights won’t fix.

And I believe the fingernail fix is for the right middle finger of the hi-poly.

Thanks!

About the front chair:
I’m just going to hide it.

#955

Nemirc: You don’t like me to call you “darling”…? Oh well…:stuck_out_tongue:

But the animation is oh so much better! He’s no longer that mechanical and unnaturally fast. Okay a few things I’d work on is the way he gets out of the car. To me…it’s not “natural”. Natural for me is this:

When one gets out of the car or even from a seat…you put pressure on your feet - esp. your in-step - to get up. This appears slower…then just when you are on the verge of completely straightened up…you go a little faster. Look at yourself in the mirror, sitting…then get up. Or if not so…ask someone to do that for you for just a few minutes…simply get up calmly and normally. Observe.

Freddy was a bit fast there. He needs to be natural.

Now the way he walks…looks a bit mechanical. Again not natural. He looks stiff. Loosen him up a bit. And have him a bit slower…you know…not in any sort of a hurry…

I know that’s what’s required of you to do…but there are so many ways to brisk walk. He has enough long legs to carry him to the next scene.

Great job so far. Keep it up.

Btw: For the next blast…hide the controls. That way I won’t figure him as “non-human”.

Maronson: I like your suggestions. True dat! If I delete it…it might cause some rigging problems…or grouping problems. I’m always suspicious about Maya. I’d do what Ronan would do: hide it. That’s safer.

And hey:shrug: …look at it this way: the Taxi is talking. What Taxi talks…!   (Lol)

#956

Lou: Thanks for the input, darling.

I had already figured the “get-out” was too fast. I will try to do something with him but it’s so difficult to move in such tiny space!

Wondering… how far are we from the deadline?

#957

My suggestion is to hide the front chair. That way…when he gets up…he has enough space to do so…

I hide mine. Why not…now I’m getting more space for CGL to “breathe”.

Another suggestion…and its the boldest and outrageous one … is to widen that door! I’m wondering if it’s okay w/ everybody else…including Maronson. The poor fella isn’t looking comfortable just entering something so simple…something we take for granted in the real world.

Eliza is having that same issue too…especially w/ her BIG skirt.

Btw: If we all agreed to widen that door a wee bit more…then…we’ll have to share the same information. And is everyone msning each other?

Maronson: It just dawned on me…and even Nemirc is curious: are we all close to the finish line? I know the deadline is March 10th but…who else is doing the other scenes besides the latest one we’re discussing here in this forum? Just curious.

#958

:banghead: I’m discovering right now that TaxiCab’s door is really narrow for CGL…even so for Freddy.

I really all for widening that door. To do that…I’d interfere ONLY Taxi’s geometry - the one that influenced the size of the door…ONLY.

I hope that won’t be a hassle in the end.

What do you guys think?:curious:

#959

How about you add cloth simulation to her skirt so it collides and reacts in a flowing organic way as she graciously gets into the taxi?

 :arteest:

#960

Naw…it’s not just the skirt…it’s her squeezing in…in uncomfortable places.

I want to z scale Taxi…in certain places that influences the door. She would have to stand awkwardly and fall backwards…and really…the entry is narrow. It’s not just the skirt.

Edit: Sorry Nemirc, the entire skirt is rigged … and the way it is rigged…it’ll be even more complicating to cloth simulate…

I wonder what Jamie would say…is it possible?
