Okay I’m back. These two avi’s represent the shots according to the storyboard. C&C are most welcomed.
Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project
omarhib:
Yeah, good movement when she went into “A shilling for two minutes”. Great job.
Though most of your arm movement seem to be moving too linear. For instance when she raises her arm for “Well I don’t call it roight…”, it moves too even between the “Well” and “I”. Keep in mind we see things before we hear them. I know that you have the right arm raised at the highest when she says “I”, that’s what I would’ve done. But try animating to that high point before she says “I”, hold the arm, then have it drop to her side again as she’s saying “don’t”.
Good job so far, I felt as excited as Lou when I saw your playblast too. Keep going
Lou:
I’d critique your animation, but it’s getting late here and I need to wake up early :wise:
Hello all,
Loulu79: Thank you… i just love your comments. and your animations are awesome.
SirRon: Thanks m8 for the encouragement… will post another version today…
thanks all,
*Mike, I was on teary-eyed when i read my name on the list of the program…i dloaded the PDF files, printed and showed to my friends, they are so happy for me…Thank you very much Mike and good luck to us all!:applause:
Hi everyone,
I have completed the rig for Col. Pickering. It is up and can be found here:
/3_AmbassadorsBall/Characters/ColPickering/Col_Pickering_Rig_v01_2-28-06.rar
I have also included a text file with basic info about the rig, just to help you find your way through the rig more quickly. Let me know what you think.
If there are any problems I will try my best to resolve them as quickly as I can.
We had our first run through last night. I have two screens on either side of the stage. There is a DVD player going into a video splitter that feeds three projectors, one for each screen and one to project on the back wall of the orchestra pit where the projector operator can see what the audience sees. We modified the firmware in the projectors so that blanking is really completely blank (no message on the bottom saying how to restore the picture).
Your Art work is up on the lobby walls.
I can’t tell if we really have a problem, but it might be the case that we have a continuity problem in the scaling of Eliza and the taxicab. Nemirc, Sir Ron, Loulu79, omarhib, and Capel must agree on the RELATIVE scales of the two characters. They can disagree on a height for Eliza but they must use the same ratio of (TaxiCab Height) / (Eliza Height). Can you publish what these values are now? You all started from the same models, maybe you all agree anyway. Or maybe you are all close and it will not matter.
omarhib, Loulu79: Nice jobs, fellow and gal!
1.8XL, Loulu79, Wilson 3d: I’m glad you enjoyed looking at the program. It is my pleasure to publicize the great work you do.
Sir Ron, Michael Perretta: I made the program changes you requested.
Michael Perretta has posted the rig for Col. Pickering. Thank you, Mike!
So our rigging problems are cut in half since the last status report. We are waiting for a final on Higgins, Formal Eliza needs a facial rig, George Bernard Shaw and the Englishman still need repairs finished.
Hi everyone,
I have posted a new version of the eliza in the formal gown, with the already existing blendshapes connected to the neck controller.
Also, my previous post has not shown up yet, not sure what is going on. Thanks Mike for posting the info about Col. Pickering, since my post seems to be in outer space somewhere. =)
If anyone needs any fixes to the Pickering Rig, post here and let me know. Also, if anyone has the time (hehe, maybe after the crunch is over), I would love to hear feedback on the Pickering rig, since that always helps me improve.
Talk to everyone soon.
I just finished boarding my animation. Check it out here.
Since Lou and omarhib started the animation with Eliza and the cab, I can go off of their scales. Especially on the basket.
Thanks for the changes Mike.
Omarhib & Nemirc: You guys need the basket for your scenes!
And fortunately/unfortunately…I’ve intereferred w/ it! You see…it had too many polys to even be w/ the same scene as CGL and TaxiCab. So I decreased its polys…but not its weave style and all…
I’ve also interferred w/ its scaling…so its xyz scale is 0.179
It’s on the ftp as:
CoventGarden/Characters/Props/basket.zip
It’s an ascii file…so don’t worry. Just scale it.
SirRon: Sorry for the confusion, man.
But I’m still doing panels 20-24… and you can do panels 32 and 34…according to Mike. Damn it!:banghead: Your storyboard that you put so much time in! Man!
Oh boy…looks like I’ll be using your storyboard as a guide…it’s much more clarified anyway. Once again, Ronan…I acknowlege my shortcomings…

Hah! That’s the thing. Oh shucks! :banghead:
Well…SirRon … what’s the xyz scale for Taxi Cab?..I gave that to you via your
e-mail…
I had to import the original Taxi cab and resized. You see… I’ve resized it and freezetransformed already…so I temporarily template mine and resized the imported TaxiCab to match mine to figure out the exact measurement…
I don’t want to guess here…but if my memory hasn’t failed me…it was…um
 … 7.37 …
This may be incorrect. Check this out with SirRon
Btw:How’s your animation coming along?
Keeping the continuity: which hand is Eliza using to hold the basket?
BTW, for my shots, Eliza and the taxicab never appear together on the same scene
Hullo people
I haven’t been at home much these days, hence the lack of updates
Anyway I’ve been working on shoot 14. I feel the walk is a little too bouncy… >__<
And yes, I did notice the penetrating hand, lol
Taxicab scale: xyz=9.33
nemirc: The basket is on her left arm. But I had planned on not having her hold it with her hand. As you can see my storyboards. Would that be ok with everyone animating Eliza with her basket?
Loulu79: I’ve sent you an email about our scene confusion. I’ll just animate 17-19 for now. Again, no worries about the extra work from the boards, it’s all good
Thats it…
Thanks SirRon, i’m not sure if it will match mine… i will check it tomorrow.
Loulu79: Well… the animation is getting better and better, and hope to finish what i am planning to and post it tomorrow :bounce:
Nemirc: great animation man… keep it up
Cheers,
I’ve been getting problems with the textured Taxi. The script editor says there’s an error with the renderman plugin… I don’t have access to renderman.
I should have the animation blocked in by Sunday.
nemirc: The cab looks like it comes into frame a bit to fast. I don’t really notice anything else other than that. Good job. BTW, what’s the rotation of the door you have so I can match it with mine?
Nemirc:
:hmm: Hmmm…I wish they didn’t put the storyboard saying he walks out of the frame…because this is making him too fast for me.:argh:…I would like for him to slow down…for the sake of introducing this character a bit…
:surprisedActually because he’s walking so fast…and I’m seeing the controls…the first thing that came to my mind was a mechanical man…darn…:banghead:
Hah! I have it! Let him take his time…even though he says hello already.
Give him time to breathe…then after he says “Hello…” let him walk briskly. Since this is the end of this shot…you can do that.
Of course I reckon w/ the other scene, he’s already talking. If you have the sound file on the Timeline…you won’t make it.
But since we’re using video editing…do panel 14 by itself in Maya. Then w/ another fresh scene…do a brand new animation on him…
The intention is to have him take - his - time.
That way that good walk won’t looking so mechanical. It’ll look natural.
SirRon:
Oh so sorry about the confusion…my bad. It’s just my storyboard reading that’s creating problems…I’ve explained that in my e-mail I’ve sent you.
Omarhib: See dear! I told you my memory isn’t always accurate! Good for you to call SirRon. Good for you.
Edit: SirRon: :argh: Holy Hellsing! Ronan! I need that basket! Nooooooo… don’t take it out! In my assigned scene…she’s referring to the basket. She’s going to take it inside the cab… and it has to make sense w/ the other guys’ scene…That basket is already in the storyboard so whatever is in the storyboard…stays in the storyboard. Leave it…please Ronan dear?
Edit Again: Wait…let me calm down here…you said not in her hands…do you mean at her arm…?
You got me really worried there lol. The basket is hanging from her forearm, between wrist and elbow. Wow, this really would be easier if we were all in the same studio
edit: Eliza’s corset? I need to be able to rotate the entire rig without deformations. Oh please tell me someone can fix this? :argh:

Does the rig have clusters? If it does check to see if theyr are relative. And you know most of have mesengers. If you use them its like beighn in a studio. I’m a studio and we still use them.
