Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#901

Wow indeed. Everything looks really cool. Good work my friends. :applause:

#902

I shall do a few changes then and post again.

#903

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say hello and wow, what great work everyone is doing. My name is Mike, and I have come to the project to rig Col. Pickering. The post is so big, I have only been able to skim through it, and fully read the last few pages. Hopefully that has caught me up with what everyone is doing. I should have a rig for testing within the next couple days. I will upload it asap and post here when it is done.

I am not a pro yet, and am just finishing up school, so I don’t think I will know as much as what some of the riggers seem to be doing. Me109’s stuff looks really great, I may have to bug you about those character sets! =)

Anyhow, it’s nice to be a part of the team. Let me know what you think of the rig, the feedback will be very useful not just to the project, but should help me get better at this.

Sincerely,
Mike

Welcome to the Project, Mike. We look forward to working with you and seeing your WIP post. You are part of the progress we are making in untangling our rigging bottle neck. Nottoshabi delivered the facial rig for Freddy today and Nemric is using the model in his animation now. So Freddy is off the list. Vikram said he would work on the rig for The Englishman that Omega3D needs. If we can collect two or three rigs this weekend that will turn things around.

I’m working with some other people to solve our model and rig problems with George Bernard Shaw but there is nothing new to post yet.

Mirabeau will be adding textures to the taxicab model.

Hi all… latest Eliza rig is now up ( give half and hour for it to upload )

Eliza_with_Shawl_26-02-06.zip

I’ve added the Shawl and rig now… using clusters on Spline IK… I’m not sure how it’ll go in practice… but there should be enough control to do what most people wanna do… let me know.

Also I’ve fixed up the weights on the character… and also rigged the High Poly version of her… and have applied the textures… which I’m not sure are the right ones… can someone let me know ??

anyhow you could say that she is mostly complete…

have fun!

Two more animators checked in with me this morning. Right now, 18 out of 20 shots in scene two are assigned to active animators. I hope we will see initial posts soon from our newest members.

Once we have the taxicab textures posted we can render assignment 16 in Scene 4.

This evening I will be at the theatre to supervise the placing of the set on stage. From now on the human actors will practice on the main stage, not the rehearsal room. They are excited to get started.

Me109: Is the shawl completely independent geometry? How to you keep the shawl moving with the character?

I don’t know the names of the texture files but here is a picture that Matt posted last September showing the body textures.

These images show the problem I am having with the cloth-thing

This is the character on her default position.

This is the character after moving a little. The cloth is not attached to the rig so I move it by hand (no complains). However, this is what I get when I move it.

And after moving it further away…

I think the cloth is alive! O_o!

#908

nemirc: looks to me like the cloth is bound and/or parented to the skeleton at some place…also you may want to freeze transforms and delete the history on it and possibly use a lattice to deform it overall.

#909

Hi all… thanks for the feedback on the shawl…

I’ve had all kinds of problems it setting this up… obviously the IK spline setup is twisting to much… giving the mesh a nice distortion in the process…

I’ll see what I can do… I suggest parenting the two Splines to the Hips for those of you wanting to have it move with the whole body…

I’ll try a lattice deformer… the problem that being to replicate any movement on a high poly…

Riggin the Shawl has been tricky to say the least…

#910

Hello everyone. I’m Ronan, one of the new animators and I’ll be doing assignment #8 on scene 2. Honestly, I’m soo glad to be a part of this. It’s nice to do something outside of personal projects  Looking forward to working with you all.

#911

Newer version of Eliza up… Done away with the controllers for the Shawl… and instead have skinned it straight to her skeletal structure… Am playing around with some softbody dynamics… so at least it’ll flop around a little bit… (currently hidden)

Eliza_with_Shawl_27-02-06.zip

Other small changes are correcting some small weight problems with the head…

cheers…

Jamie

#912

hello everyone!
Mike, I’m done with taxi, now I need ftp address to upload it up there

#913

The Taxi is already on the ftp:
/2_CoventGarden/Characters/TaxiCab/TaxiCabTextured.rar

#914

That’s easier to animate, thanks. But I wouldn’t mind having some control for the shawl in the areas not touching her, between her arms and the ends of the shawl.

#915

Cool.

I’ll check her out after I finis working with Freddy  (two days at the most)

#916

SirRon: Welcome to the Pygmalion Project! You have joined us just as we are racing to the finish line. We appreciate your help.

Me109: Did you get the texture files straightened out?

Admiral Ra tuned in the rig for the Fancy Man this evening. Here is what he says about it.

Now that we have the limousine and the fancy couple rigged, we can start animating Scene 3.

mirabeau: Thanks for the taxi textures.

#917

Here is a first draft of the program. The page orders are not correct and a few positions are still empty. If you did two jobs I only used your name once. Tell me if you see any errors or if you want to be listed under another catagory instead of where I placed you. Some of you never told me your home towns. Let me know what it is if you see it is missing in the Program.

First Draft Program

Project members are listed on the last sheet of the program in this pdf.

#918

Hello all,
Here is another blast for assignment 11.
I didn’t tweak the TaxiCab’s animation yet since last time, so please comment on Liza’s animation…

Looking forward for your comments

Cheers,

#919

I started texturing the taxi last night. It - of coarse- was taking a little longer then I expected and I had to move on to something else. I will try to get it rendering tonight. Nice work mirabeau.

One question is about the lighting. Are we all just using default? I am going to just keep moving along so let me know if someone has a set I need to import.

maronson:
Man the program made my hair stand on end! Seeing all the people from sooooooo many different countries is awsome! What a great collaborative. Thanks for sharing that!

Omarhib: Liza needs stronger poses at the beginning. When she says: “How much?” she ought to be in a questioning pose. What would you do if you’re enquiring a certain issue. What makes you curious? Do you have a mirror at home where you can at least look at your own natural body and facial expressions? If not look at your shadow. I do both.

And in between dialogue…when it’s Taxi’s turn to talk…I saw her “dolly” like. She was looking like a zombie so to speak. And not alive. Make sure your curves are clean…ie, not causing her to move in unwanting ways.

When she said: “A shilling for two minutes”…that pose was the bomb. Great! But make it stronger. What happens to you when you get pissed off. Or angry. She needs more head body expressions. Women carry on more so.

When she sighed and said: “Well I don’t call it right”…THAT was the bomb. It looked natural…in fact the rest of the animation makes her come alive and natural. Just give it to us more.

Keep it up, Omarhib!

Maronson: I screamed w/ joy when I saw my name in the programme! I even called my mum to show her this. I’m so proud of us. Oh man I do hope in the end it winds up in the theatre and not just for display. So much risks to take…so much learning… so little time left…bye bye…
:wavey:
