Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#701

TUGHAN: Wowww!! You did a TERRIFIC job with animating and rendering the class-room-shots!!! There’s just one thing… It looks to me as if you didn’t apply the transparancy-map to that little front-part of the hair… If I remember well, I used the same texture of the hair for that little part, but made a different transparancy-map, to make it look a little more natural…
Can you please email me the max.files??? Not necessarily with the background-movie together, but with the student animated, so that I can see how you rigged him and to study the animation? You can send it to senpdotariaansatplanetdotnl
Thank you so much!!!

And for everybody: I wish you all a very happy, healthy and creative 2006!! : )

T4d: Translated the Freddy Lightwave model into OBJ/MTL files. Now we can have Maya or 3DsMax riggers continue the work with him.
Jayezon: Posted nine seconds worth of rendered frames today. Here is an example. We have a white shirt again!.

#703

He looks properly well done…the way he is rendered funnyly goes in sync with the background. Am I being polite?

Edit: I just tried opening the Taxi-cab as an obj file…and having some plugin issue. I’ve e-mailed to you (Maronson) the explanation.

Preface
Rockmanex is doing a touch up on the George Bernard Shaw model so that Wilson3d can start animating. Jayzeon has begun delivering frames for the Cell Phone Scene. Tughan has finished rendering for the Classroom scene. Omega3d is getting ready to animate the Scotsman. I have a message out for someone to work with the Englishman model but he hasn’t responded yet.

Covent Garden
CaptainBoom has the Covent Garden Liza model to do a body rig but we haven’t seen a WIP yet. Loulu79 will work on Liza’s closeups and do as much as she can until CaptainBoom is finished. Freddy and the Taxicab need riggers. Mirabeau is converting the taxicab model into Maya. AgentPrometheus is holding on to the taximeter model and DeathStar129 has not yet posted the British Coins model.

Ambassador’s party
Formal Eliza needs a facial Rig. Utpal is rigging Henry Higgins. Burkester is rigging Col Pickering. Opreska is modeling the Limousine and CornfielD is modeling the Fancy Couple. EricG is making a test render of the Powder Room Scene. CJCrave is holding on to the ballroom background. All other backgrounds are posted.

My responsibilities will change beginning Monday night. Humans will join the Project. Yes, real live actors. Auditions for Pygmalion are Monday and Tuesday night. Rehearsals begin January 15th. We have an eight week rehearsal period then we open on March 10, 2006.

We still have some work left to go before we can make a DVD. What is important to me now is communication. Please talk to me and make good estimates about when you will finish your assignments. In January and February silence will hurt the project. Don’t be shy. Please make a WIP post or send me email about your schedule.

Hey everyone! Look what I found on Captainboom’s Blog.

Congratulations, Captain!

#709

Greetings, everyone. Maronson just told me about this last week, and I said that I could try my hand at the rig work on the Englishman. That was before I got to the end of this thread, where I saw Omega had shown interest in the Englishman. Maronson thought that we might both work on that character. With the other little projects, story, and my part time job it would be easier to focus just on the rigging. If things work out, I look forward to contributing to this project.

I just realized this seems very choppy in it’s sentence structure. I blame it on the late hour.

#710

Rakile Welcome to the Project! He will be looking at the Englishman model and moving it toward animation while Omega3d is blocking out the Scotsman. So we have a team of two starting to work on the Pub scene.

mirabeau: Thanks for the Taxicab model translation.

deathstar129: Put the coins into 2_CoventGarden/Characters/Props. Did you check out
Tughan’s classroom shot?

#711

Good to see this collab going so strong. It’s always a pleasure to pop in see progress!

#712

Hello everyone!

Maronson emailed me about this project a few days ago. And i’d love to do my bit for this project! I’ll be rigging the Taxi Cab for the moment. (Very nice model by the way!
)

Great stuff shown so far!

#713

Hey! nice of you to join us…

#714

Here is a WIP from Omega3d. Any comments? As usual we plan to put video in the background. From what I can see Omega3d has given the Scotsman some spunk.

What does that mean?

#715

Hey Mike, back in california…going to take out the George Bernard Shaw hair for you, should have it tomorrow night. Will email you the file when its done.

#716

Thanks a whoooooooole lot Eugene!
Much appreciate that!:applause:

Ahha!

So that’s what Captainboom was up to.
Forgiven.

Congrats Captainboom:wip:

I’ll be working on CGL’s facials a bit today…she’s a giant compared to Taxi Cab. I don’t want to resize without other’s knowing this…so I’ll just work on her facials only without the Taxi Cab for now…until it’s okay to resize or otherwise.

Keep on going everyone!

Edit: About Omega’s work:
The Scottsman has no omph to his character. The lip sync’s fine…but … he’s missing some oomph…just work on more oomph…

#717

Admiral Ra: Welcome to the Project! He asked me a good question in e-mail that we need to discuss in the thread. What are the rules for rigging the taxicab? We have rules for rigging bi-peds but none for vehicles. Can we have animators and other riggers post some suggestions here? Our maybe we should start a thread with this question in the animation section?

Loulu79: My first choice would be to resize the taxicab. You don’t have to
redistribute the taxicab model when you are finished. Admiral Ra just got
the model for rigging and it will take some time before he is finished. You
will probably be through with the close ups before we have a fully rigged
taxicab. I think someone else will resize the cab again for the long shot
(#26). In fact, you could take your copy of the taxicab and slice it in
half if it makes your work easier to be able to put CGL inside. You don’t
have to worry about defoming the taxi body in your shots. So I think your
copy of the taxicab is a dead end. You can do what you want to it. The
organic characters should be shared as they are. (Until we run into our next
scaling problem!)

Rockmanex: Welcome back. If it is not too much trouble can you put a cigar into the model? That way all three animators will start with the same size cigar and they can twiddle it down as he smokes it.

#718

Uh:blush: …I realized I wasn’t clear in my comments about the Scott character for Omega.

:wise: My idea about oomph for this character are the following:

*He’s just talking…and no “spice” or"real spunk" or …how should I put it more bluntly…He ought to have more drama…more body and facial expression. We want to feel how he puts it…in his own way.

*He could say the same lines: “What does that mean”…just plain and no expression (boring) or he could give us attitude (And the Scottish do have a-tti-tude!)…as if he wants a fight … or he shows he feels hurt…

*When someone’s having a quarrel or row…they have a lot of body drama. The voice given has a lot of potential for that…so Omega…play more on how he expresses himself.

*If I were the Scottsman…whomever he was talking to…I’d be in his face…sticking my neck out…putting my right hand on my hips…appearing disgusted…and it shows on my face.

*Other than that he’s just plain and dull-faced…and if he (The Scottsman) hears what I’m saying I’m sure he’ll give “What does that mean”…more meaning…more hell-raising…because he’s creating “drama” through body language.

That’s the Scottish way.

One more thing: The Scott’s left hand went through the counter:blush: . Easy fix, Omega.

Keep up the good work…mine’s coming soon so you’ll have a fair share at c&c.

Awesom, thats the critique I like. Thanks!

It turns out that the Englishman model is not ready for rigging. So I have asked Rakile to work on the Taximeter animations. All we need now is the taximeter model. AgentPrometheus can you email your model to me immediately? Rakile can work on it starting tomorrow. He can finish it up, both rig and animate so I am anxious to get this done.

That also means we need a rescue modeler for the Englishman. Is there a 3DsMax modeler who can at least texture the model? A second thing needed is a torso so we don’t have to rig to clothing, we also need a low poly model made. It would be nice to improve the hands but we can hide that if we run out of time.
Here is the model:

Auditions for actors begin this evening so my time is limited during the next three days so posts may be terse.
