Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#681

Qais: Thank you for posting your background. This shot will be very emotional and it will add a lot to the scene.

Tughan: I agree with Eric (he is our scene editor) the video is most important because of our time crunch. You seem to understand the scene and I have confidence in your work. Let’s see if we can get Mike Van Handel to post a final sound track using the woman’s voice to help you.

I need to hear from five people this week about their models, 3DZombie, AgentPromethus, CJCrave, CornfielD and Opreska. Can you guys show us a WIP this week? I would like to not have any model concerns in January.

#682

Tughan: I stripped the sound off from the teacher video and substituted the student voice for my voice. Once it is in synch the rest will stay in synch. We can edit the video you make later to tighten the scene up. I still have the original track so if Mike V thinks he can do a better job of shaping the sound he can still do it but meantime you are not waiting for us.
The wav file is on the FTP site at:

Hey maronson! Just letting you know I’ll be doing the bernard shaw thing when i get back to LA on the 7th of january…I lost my remote to my desktop in cali and have been having issues with this computer trying to get maya up on it (its about 3 years old) so I’m not gone or anything…just stuck in a time/machine limbo. Its frankly highly frustrating b/c I had a few other things to tackle but oh well…I have your model…just cannot open the damn scene on low ram.

#684

Hi again guys,

maronson: That new sound is not match the lipsync my friend. I think we need to keep Student’s voice from the first clip intact, and mix new Woman Teacher voice over the old one. The point is the timing. But unless we don’t show student and teacher in same cut, it can be cheated by showing just teacher in her lines, and showing student in his lines…

I’ll render all lines to high quality xvid file in a few days. Tomorrow maybe.

Take care all.

Hey everyone! :wavey:

Good News! I just registered at savefile.com…It helps me to upload an avi file…that way you can easily download the WIP animation for Convent Girl Liza!

It’s a good thing I’m looking at the latest animation (Glimmer)

The only issue now would be this: What is mirror? What does it do? When should I use it? What’s it for?

Is it to ensure that downloading and uploading would be a success?

I’m new at this so bear with me…

I’m asking all sorts of questions now…that way come January I wouldn’t have downloading issues.

Happy New Year!

Edit: Oh today’s my youngest sister’s birthday! She’s 15!

Tughan: Ok. The sound track I posted yesterday was synched to the new video. I thought we could edit your output if we needed to make in shorter. Your way is OK also. I posted a sound track this evening that is synched to the old video that you have been using to animate from. However, this sound track can not remain in synch since the female teacher took longer to say her lines than the male teacher did. If you cut away from the female teacher after she says “cough” and “Plough” it should be possible to get back in synch again.
It is in:
1_Preface/Audio/WomanSceneDialog.wav

Loulu79: A mirror server is a second computer that contains your files. If one is busy or many hops away from your ISP, you might get better service using the mirror server instead of the primary server. The decision of which server to use is made by the people who download your files.

I am still around too. Just checking in. Thanks for the update Rockmanex.

#688

Hey,

I’m still here too. I’ve been on a strict deadline with work. I haven’t had much free time between the holidays and this commercial deadline. I’m almost finished with the limo, however, I haven’t been able to work on it for the past few weeks. I’ll get some more free time in January, most likely after the 7th. Sorry, it’s the best I can do for now.

#689

*still kickin’ here…:wavey:

*HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL:beer:

#690

Good Luck to all the modelers who have to juggle with work and this project!

Happy New Year…:wip: :wip: :wip:

Tughan: I posted a digitally zoomed in avi of the female teacher in case it would be useful for you for a bit of variety. It’s your call if you want to use it. It’s on the FTP site at:
/Backgrounds/video/ClassroomBackgrounds/TeacherZoom.avi

Good to see people checking in. I still need to hear from CJCrave and CornfielD.

Kemer2 has to leave the Project. He may come back in a month to work on dynamics. CaptainBoom is taking up Kemer2’s work on Covent Garden Liza.

#692

Well I wonder how far he’s gone with it. January is just around the corner and as soon as I blink it’s 30th January. Oh well…that’ll have to do as a challenge. Actually I don’t know how fast am I…

Oh I do hope I get her very, very soon.

Good Luck CaptainBoom :wip:

And A
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Tughan has submitted his classroom scene. The scene is in Adobe Premiere files so it is not easy to post for viewing. We will make an avi for everyone to look at. I cut a few poses out of the scene for you to look at in this attachment.

Happy New Year, Everyone.

#694

Good luck for all members for this wonderfull project…Happy New Year!!!

#695

I made a wmv file from Tughan’s post so you could see it here.
classroom shot
So we now have our first piece of animation done, only 17 more to go!

#696

Hey! How are you guys doing? My name is Jonathan Reyes. I just jumped on board and am looking forward to working with you!

I am currently going to take a gander at the Englishman rig. I am also going to do some animation! Oh yeah.

Anyway…

Thanks again!

omega3d: Welcome to the Project! We look forward to working with you.

Jayezon sent me a Cell Phone boy animation test. It shows how important these tests are. If we make a mistake we don’t want to invest a lot of time making thousands of incorrect frames.
Cell Phone boy mov file
When I looked at it I asked “Why is the shirt black?” Here is his answer:

The shirt is white on the model but the gradient texture that was
applied to it had caused it to render as black when radiosity was selected
in the render options. I’ve tweaked the shirt and am now re-rendering that section.

It also shows up a problem for Mike Van Handel. The translation subtext line must be separate from the background. Otherwise the characters will be in front of the words and the audience will not be able to read them.

This is great guys and gals! We are making progress.

#698

There is a new intermediate-quality AVI (in the Tests folder for the Cell Phone conversation on the FTP server) called “NewCellKidsSans.AVI” – it has the subtitles disabled.

Best regards,

Mike

By the way, a small tip for 3dsmax animators that they may missed out; in Views menu, choose Viewport Background. There you can click “Files…” button and choose the video background files that Mike recorded. Also, make sure you check Display Background and Animate Background checkbox, then click ok.
Now you can adjust your characters, lights, and camera angle for the video background more easyly.

Happy New Year everybody : )

Good to see so much progress has been made while i’ve been offline.

Jayreef, did you finish up the rigging ok on ballgown Eliza? If you had any problems with it, it would be great if you could tell me about it so I know what to do different next time.

Amy
