Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#621

Awesome:thumbsup:

hope everything with the model has been working for ya, can’t wait to see him done

I just saw my computer clock flip over to 10 PM Pacific time and that means I have to do something unpleasant. I announced in the thread a month ago that this could happen:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=2797936&postcount=417

The animated character English Teacher has been cut from the Project. On Thursday, Andy, our second unit video person and I will visit a third grade classroom to take new background video for the scene. We will video an actual human teacher to take the place of the animated character. This hurts Dark_jedi_1929 most of all since now his model will not appear in the production. The problem was it was untextured and I never could find anybody to texture someone else’s model. Eventually a rigger did agree to take the model, texture it and rig it but we never saw a WIP. The rigger had some difficulties with his equipment and after that was fixed he got busy with other things. We have to expect that to happen in a volunteer project. My job is to make sure the Project is successful. I no longer have the resources to keep this model in the pipeline. Our deadline is real.

dark_jedi_1929: You said you worked in a company where other people textured your models. The only way that I will accept the model back into the pipeline is if you find someone to texture it and rig it to bring it up to the level of the rest of the models. And it has to be done quickly so that it is ready to animate in January.

The Englishman may be cut also but I did get e-mail tonight that says it will come in tomorrow. OK, thanks for telling me it is coming. You have posted several WIP’s so I am willing to wait one more day.

Burkester: Nice job! Scudz was really impressed with what you have done to his model.

deathstar129: Good! I like your attitude! I’ll set up your FTP account tomorrow and send you that information in an e-mail.

Hi guys,

I’m going to be the one animating Convent Garden Liza! I’m thrilled to take part and do more animation (besides my very own).

Now I read that WIPs are welcomed. That’s fair…but the thing is … can anyone here give me a hand at putting up a WIP for this animation piece?

The thing is even though I have my own website…I’m not sure if uploading an quicktime/media player would show it properly. Maybe I should give that a try…

Can somebody show me a free-to-upload-animation website? If there’s such thing as Photobucket for images…maybe…there’s one for animation.

Help me out here. I do want to be fair and square in teamwork.

#624

Loulu79: Cool! You better treat her right!

#625

nottoshabi: We have two versions of rigged George Bernard Shaw models posted on the FTP site. GBSRigOnly has hair but only IK control on arms. GBSRigOnly has no hair but IK/FK control. Wilson3D says neither one has a Jaw control. Rockmanex will take care of the hair situation by adding it to GBS2ndRigFix but he still has one more week of school left and may not start until next week.

Can you get in ahead of him and fix the jaw on GBS2ndRigFix?

#626

It may just be me and you will see a jaw control but I could not find one.

#627

AI AI captain…

Edit> Ok the GBS now has a jaw control. And I also uploaded the Liza character. THey are both on the ftp. Let me know if you have questions or coments

nottoshabi:

Cool…so everybody on the set can get in the FTP? Well…I’m having problems logging in. Maybe it’s me…but…I really want to see and test the waters before Convent Garden Liza is finished rigged. Liza…is that the same character I have to animate?

#629

hello Pygmalion team
this is the second time i try to post been having some interent issues both at home and at work. Either way my name is oba and i will be working on the formal eliza facial rig. I will will be experimenting and attempting to recreate similar setup to that in the Cgtoolkit book vol 1. Keeping in mind the specific facial fetures that she needs.

Cheers Oba

#630

Hello Team,
this is the first facial exp wip Please let me know once i get my shape Sets done, I shall start Creating the facial rig.

Cheers oba

#631

hello, Mike i sent to you taxi cab right now

#632

misto26:

The Facial expressions look good, basic…and clean…I think what you need are separate mouth expressions. And make them a bit exaggerated. That way…despite the simplicity…we can get a wide range of expressions…from mellow drama to exaggerations. It’s fun that way.

I’m looking forward to see the next step on facial.

And btw who’s this character?

And yes…just to let you guys know…I’ve resolved my Ftp issue…I’m using my PC for it from now on. And I’m studying CGL’s facials.

Seasons Greetings everyone!

Edit: Yeah misto26 … you do have mouth expressions…but do more.

#633

Welcome to the Project misto26 and Loulu79! You are both off to a great start.

Today was a great day for posts. We collected two new models today. The Englishman and the Taxicab. Here is mirabeau’s work.

#634

Oh the rendering of the Taxi Cab is beautiful. Very well done.

maronson: I went into the Ftp…and each folder had nothing in them. Is that fine? No one has put anything in them?

And another thing…is it okay and possible to link playback animations from the FTP? I swear it could be done that way. I’m asking some questions here…I hope that’s not a bother.

Cheers & Seasons Greetings!

#635

thanks, Loulu79!

You only have access to scene two. The folders you should see there are Animation, Audio, Backgrounds, and Characters. You don’t mention if you are using an FTP client or a browser. In Internet Explorer select Characters, right click and select OPEN. You probably could just double click on a folder name to open it.

Characters has five subfolders, CoventGarden Liza, Freddy, Props, TaxiCab and Taximeter.
Your model is inside CoventGardenLiza. Also the sound track for your scene is a .wav file in the Audio folder.

In an FTP client read the help file to find out how to open a folder. If you still do not see any files try to put your client into Passive Mode.

Can someone suggest to Loulu79 a good place to host her files for streaming?

Hello Everyone. I’ll be taking some down time from now until Solstice (Dec 21). I’ll check in when I can. But there aren’t many Internet Cafe’s in the Costa Rican Rain Forest. (No, we are not roughing it. I’m sure the hotel will have something.) Here is the present condition of our models.
George Bernard Shaw: Rockmanex will touch up the model and store it on the FTP site so that Wilson3D can finish animating.
CellPhone Scene: We have not heard much recently from Jayezon. He is animating this scene. Mike Van Handel will post a slightly modified background soon.
Classroom scene: Andy and I made a video tape in a 3rd grade classroom this morning. He will post the raw video on the FTP site and Mike Van Handel will edit it. When the background is finished tughan can finish his scene.
British Pub Scene: The Englishman is posted on the FTP site as a Max model and in OBJ format. We need a rigger for this model.
Covent Garden Liza: Kemer2 is working on the body rig. When he posts on the FTP site Loulu79 can start blocking. Freddy is posted on the FTP Site as a lightwave and OBJ model. Freddy needs a rigger. The taxi is posted as a Lightwave and Obj model on the FTP site. The taxicab needs a rigger. AgentPrometheus is modeling the Taximeter. DeathStar129 owes us a model of British Coins.
Ambassador’s Party: Formal Eliza is getting a facial rig from misto26. Burkster is rigging Col. Pickering. Henry Higgins is posted on the FTP site. Henry needs a rigger. CornField is modeling the Fancy Couple. Opreska and 3DZombie are modeling Limousines.
We still need background Final posts from CJCrave, Pivot, and Qais.
So it will be important for all modeling to be completed this month. As you can see we need several riggers yet.

EDIT: MJO120881: Happy Birthday Matt!

Nice to see that the project is soon moving into the animation stage.
All of you modellers doing this project: Great work! I’ve really enjoyed looking
at your work!

I’m making progress too. Did the door today. Got a reference pic earlier, but didn’t
go for all the details. I did a simpler version of it. Looks ok?

Next thing: The fence. Hope to get it done this weekend. Next week(end?) I’m
doing the textures. Kinda easy textures for a concrete building like this so it should
go fast. Anyways, is the door ok? If so I can move on.

edit: don’t wanna leave anyone out so: Animators, riggers, lighters, entertainers,
janitors, optimists, and everyone else: great work!

#640

The door’s fine, pivot. This is suppose to be simple and clean…right?

Well…the only thing I don’t like about the door are the door frames… you know…those bumpy fine lines…It’s bothering my eyes I’m afraid. Probably it’s just me…but is there another style for door frames? So far so good the building is done pretty nicely.

Just the door frames to change (that’s my two cents).

Edit: BTW: I got in Maronson…and downloaded the audio. I’m obviously looking in to get the ready-to-animate CGL up and running…so…meanwhile…I’ll just experiment a little. Let me see if I can use my own ftp… ummmm…that means…I have to … “update” my website.
